DLP for a day?

What do you think?

We can get flights out early from Edinburgh to Paris and later ones back but I can't remember how long it take to get from the airport to DLP.

Don't want to go for longer as don't particularly like the place but DS will love it until we get to Florida late next year.

I wouldn't bother, too rushed and delays happen.

Don't think I'd do it for one day either, you and your DS will be knackered and won't enjoy it. Can't you stay one night?

Actually I think this is an awesome idea, particularly if you are not keen on Disney.

I have done this but by coach and ferry. We got there for opening and left when the park closed, It was a lovely day! Financially makes a lot of sense too.

I think the key thing is to work out whether you can arrive at the park as early as poss and leave after closing, otherwise you may be better staying one night. Also to accept you won't get everything done, have a good plan of what you do intend to do and make clever use of the fast pass system. Think about prebooking character dining if you want to meet the characters, the queue of the charaters would take up a significant proportion of the day

I don't know first hand because I have never travelled there by plane,. but there is a disney shuttle that runs from the airport to the parks, have found it on the disneyland website here and the timetables here here says it takes 45 mins. I have heard that some private shuttles are very good if pricey, they would obviously tie you less to time. There's a good fan site here www.dlp.info/ the forums might be able to tell you more about this if you are interested

Hi tefal,
If you have been already you will know that there are two parks - the main one ( like the Magic Kingdom ) and the Studios which is smaller but still has some very good rides and attractions that they don't have in the American parks.

Personally I would rather have al least one day in each park. Staying in a hotel in Val D'Europe, Bussy Saint Georges or Torcy along the RER line A saves money rather than paying for a resort hotel, and only takes a few mins to get to Chessy station inside resort close to the Village and both parks.

You can leave luggage / bags in lockers at the railway station or at the Disney Express Desk on arrival and the next morning, to save going back to your hotel. The VEA airport bus stops at the bus station by Chessy railway station, so easy for arrival and departure. Cost is ? 18 adult and ? 15 child each way for Orly or CDG airports.
Private transfer is usually quicker, and you can ask them to drop you / collect you from Chessy station to give you more park time. You need to leave approx 3 hrs before your return flight time. These cost from ? 60 - ? 70 each way for up to 6 people so can be cheaper than the bus for some families.
Some people also use the fast TGV train from Chessy to CDG.

One day is better than nothing IMO, but I would find it frustrating having to leave and missing things that I like. At the quietest off peak times the parks are open 10 - 6, so only 8hrs.

For more advice from people who know DLP very well, see the Trip Advisor DLP/ MLV forum, which is very friendly. Regular posters there are very glad to help.

P.S. Park tickets are more expensive on the Disney website. They are cheaper from people like Attraction Tickets Direct ( who post actual park tickets, not vouchers ) or from French ticket websites where a 1 day 1 park ticket can cost ? 30. You can't print these off, but they will post to the UK.

More info about these Francilien tickets on the TA DLP/MLV forums - see the Top Questions lists.

PPS. The journey from CDG to Disney takes from 30 mins to maybe 50 mins depending on traffic. Private transfers can use the back roads to avoid heavy traffic but the VEA bus can't.
Orly airport is slightly further away, and there is no alternative route to take if roads are bad, so journey time can vary from 40 mins.

If a VEA bus has just left when you arrive, you could wait some time for the next one. They go every 20 mins at peak times, but in low season only every 45 mins. They all stop at the bus station by Chessy railway station.
