Toddlers sharing a room?

Hi

We went away on a villa holiday earlier this year with a group of friends, one couple have a DS 4 months older than ours and they had a whale of a time; and every one got on.

We're thinking of doing it again in June next year, my DS will be 2 1/2, theirs almost 3. They will also have a new 6 month old.

We were just thinking re: rooms wise as the travel cots I've used abroad have always been on the small side, plus our friends will now need that for the new baby.

Have you / or do you think having the two boys together in one room is a recipe for disaster or not? They normally see each other once a fortnight, so they are comfortable with each other. Or would it be easier to have them in the rooms with the parents on a camp bed (if any are available that is!)

I would put them together if possible - adds to the excitement of the holiday.

However, we have just spent a week where the plan was for DD3 to sleep with her cousins. We hadn't realised it before but whilst they are all brought up in a similar way my DD sleeps with the door open, and her cousins sleep with the door closed in pitch black. They lasted one - broken - night together then were split up.

So check normal sleeping conditions first would be my advice.

What frenchfancy said. Check if they need nightlights, door open/closed etc.

My brother and I were really excited that our DD's could now sleep in he same room this summer, aged 2 and 2.5. I think we were imagining midnight feasts already! Unfortunately, it was all too much and they lasted half an hour!
My DD sleeps really well with others at her childminders, so I'm sure it can be done!

Thanks for the responses, I know the other boy does sleep with a night light type thing which goes off after a while and so does mine, so it could probably work.

Didn't know whether or not we would be setting ourselves up for trouble!!

I think the next step for us would be to get rid of the cot in the next 4 months or so :D
