Disney Paris end of March?

I know, I know but there are some good deals at the mo.

Considering end of March, Hotel Cheyanne but would mean taking dd out of school for 8 days as driving to uk after. Is it likely to be ok then and bearing in mind it is just me and dd, would 2 nights/3 days be enough or should I push the boat out and do 3/4.

It will be her birthday in April so could be her present. Was thinking of saying it is a main Xmas pressie too but as she is only 6 it may be too far and also I will get 'how many sleeps' until we go. tia

I think 2/3 would be fine. She's young and there's a lot of walking to do.

There's a poster who just answers disney questions. She works in the business I think and she knows EVERYTHING. She's fab. Do a disney search and you should find her fairly easily.

DelGirl · 09/11/2011 20:28

thanks, if it wasn't for the time out of school i would jump at it tbh. Now thinking 3 nights 4 days though will miss 1st day as have to drive 900 miles in 2 days. Could arrive dinner time and get good sleep (yeah right) 1st night then 3 fullish days. What I spend on the extra night I will save by avoiding toll roads which is an extra 3 hours according to viamichelin. Will check out the disneyposter, thanks.

Be prepared for the weather not to be that great. easily overcome by some decent waterproofs and plenty of changes of clothes.

DelGirl · 10/11/2011 11:53

yes, will take lots of waterproof stuff.

thanks for the tip re poster........I've booked 3nights/4 days at Hotel Cheyanne which I know some say is not the best but it is walking distance and I don't expect to do much other than sleep when we're in the hotel. Totally bargainous price so very happy. Smile

Hi,
If pointydog means me, I don't work for Disney or any travel company - I have just been going to DLP regularly since it opened in 1992, and try to help others have a successful trip if I can. If it is me, and she thinks I am fab, then thank you pd for the compliment!
I don't always get time to check mumsnet for DLP questions as I spend most of my free time on the TA DLP/ MLV forums being Destination Expert for this Destination. Anyone can read forum posts and the Top Questions lists, but you have to join TA to ask your own, like Mumsnet.

I have replied to quite a few DLP questions on Mumsnet in the past, so find these using the search facility.

Glad to hear you have booked for a good price. I stayed in the Cheyenne last January for the first time, and was quite happy with my room and buffet breakfast considering I am used to staying in the more expensive hotels there.
The cowboy town theming is very well done, and was repainted this year. Even though it was quite cold and rained sometimes, I did not mind the walk alongside the Rio Grande canal to the Village and parks, although sometimes we used the shuttle bus instead.

I wrote a detailed review, which might help.

The begin the 20th Anniversary celebrations on 1st April, so will probably begin decorating the parks in late March.

Local Ile De France schools are on holiday 18th Feb to 5th March, then break up for Easter 14th April.

Some Spanish schools break up for Easter on 2nd April.

If you have booked weekdays between 5th and end of March, the parks should not be busy. Weds can be more crowded as local schools have half or full day off.

Eggrules · 07/12/2011 17:41

We went to Cheyenne last year on a Mon - Fri break loved it.

Figgygirl is it worth staying in Disney Hotel? Off to look at your review.

Figgygirl · 07/12/2011 18:01

Hi Eggrules,
I have not stayed in the Disneyland Hotel ( most expensive one ) built over the park entrance, as my boys thought it was too pink and girly, and preferred the Sequoia Lodge or Newport Bay. We mostly went in the summer holidays and my boys liked to spend some time in the outdoor pool on hot days, and the DLH only has an indoor one.

Some people love the DLH for the luxury and location, and would rather have fewer days here than more days in a different hotel for the same money. It is a matter of personal choice really.
I quite like walking through the Disney Village to / from the parks to see what is going on there, and have dinner in one of the hotels by the lake or in the Village when the parks close earlier.

I do like Inventions buffet in the DLH which has Characters at dinner from 6pm, but not at lunchtime when it is a bit cheaper. You can book dinner in any of the Disney restaurants - you don't have to be staying there - and also use their bars / lounges.

Monday - Friday is good as you avoid the busy weekend but have time to see/ do most things and favourite rides again.

We usually have a day in Paris as well as it only takes 40 mins on the train to Chatelet Les Halles ( Notre Dame area ).

Eggrules · 07/12/2011 18:06

Cheers Figgy we were thinking of going at Easter. Great tip about using other hotels.

Delgirl you will love it

Figgygirl · 07/12/2011 18:15

I think Easter is 6-9th April, so 20th Anniversary celebrations will have begun. Parks and resort will be extremely busy, but should be a great atmosphere!
If you use Fastpass wisely, do the rides that you can during EMH, get good positions early for shows & parades for best view, and do things like Adventure Isle at the busiest time of day, you should have a fab time without stress.
We always took our boys Gameboys to play with in long queues, or played things like I Spy. Always take kids to the loo before joining a long ride queue, and have some drinks and snacks with you.
