How young is it sensible to fly long haul with a baby?

if you have a choice what wuld you think best age to take baby long haul(talking Uk to hong kong)?

Dd due early next year and dh talking about potential long haul trip when dd would be 8-10 weeks .

Have travelled a lot with dd1 but when older (think first trip was when she was 4 months). My view is 4 months plus good as baby bit bigger, should have had first sets of jabs and generally I would feel a bit stronger so reluctant to book before then?

Anyone any different experiences with taking younger babies long haul and any tips?

I would wait until they have all the jabs at least (c.4 months). Only because the air on planes are recirculated and I'd be very surprised if someone didn't have a cough / cold that they could easily circulate on the plane. My dad who's a gp suggests the same to his patients. Ultimately the choice is yours as the parent(s) and I have heard of really young newborns fly who have been fine......but you do have an added risk I think pre-jabs. Also I think their little ears are especially delicate when they're so young. I took mine post jabs, but a short haul to test him out. We're off for a long haul next week now he's 6m. Good luck with it :)

Hi, my GP and health visitor said there was no advice in how early. If your breast feeding colds etc arent a problem unless you get them too... I've heard earlier the better as they sleep more Wink and am travelling tomorrow with my 3 month old.

Thanks all- my instinct is to wait post jabs for reasons you suggested chaikolo. Given it's optional (ie a holiday) I think it make more sense to Wait til they are older

post jabs sounds sensible, but other than that the age is the easiest to travel with a baby. when baby is still contend with having a breat near a somewhere snuggly to sleep...

Just back from NZ via HK - would def have helped if DD wasn't crawling/ hauling self up on furniture so i'd say
