What age did your baby move from carrycot to seat (for example on Mountain Buggy pushchair)

Just wondering...

dd sleeps better in the carrycot (it's like a lovely bed, but it's getting a little tight in there, LOL), and I've only tried her in the Mountain Buggy seat (which reclines) a couple of times... She's 23 weeks old. (Though 4 prem, she's 50th centile length and weight for a baby 4 weeks younger IYSWIM)

When did you make the move, and did anyone force their babbas to sit in the carrycot 'little princess in a Silver Cross Pram' style IYSWIM ?

Glad she's enjoying the carrycot, DS2 loved his. I think I moved him near 6 months. Sitting up in prams seems like a "falling out" risk to me.

By 6 months your ds2 would have been a pretty tight fit in the carrycot then, hey, nqc ?

I must admit when I see her in the 'seat' she does look tiny, and rather swims in it at the moment IYSWIM... but in the carrycot, I can see her elbows are getting fairly snug to the edge, depending on what position they are in when she sleeps...

Thanks for the input.

Round about this age. Bit later for dd as she was smaller and I was more nervous about not being able to gaze adoringly down at her as we walked. I never got to gaze adoringly at ds as I was too busy keeping my eye on dd.

Dd took a while to get used to facing forward - wondered where the adoring mummy had gone I guess. Ds loves it though - can see so much more I think.

BTW - for anyone considering purchasing the MB carrycot... we have used it LOADS LOADS LOADS since dd was born. It makes a fantastic pram out of the MB chassis and she has her day naps in it. We bought a better mattress (washable covers, stiffer foam), and dd sleeps very well in it. We keep it on the chassis downstairs or else separate it and use it as a temporary crib wherever we are for dinner etc.

ds sat up in his big pram!!!!
in fact, he still does now and then, although he is just about too long to sleep in it... he is 10 months!

would keep her in the carrycot for as long as possible.. nice and cosy in this weather i think!

We're actually going somewhere warm ya see... so I am trying to figure out what would be best to take or if I should take both (would be a bit tricky re: loadsa luggage but not impossible IYSWIM).

does the seat fully recline? if so i would leave the carrycot

LIZS · 13/12/2005 22:10

Unless you need her to sleep overnight in carrycot the seat should be fine if it is comfy enough for naps. Stopped using ours at around 6 months although think they may have napped in it at home a bit longer.

PranSerahndDancer · 13/12/2005 22:59

I put him in from birth (on full recline)
But I am not only an evil mum, but crap too

Thanks all. Yesterday afternoon my little baby, born 4lbs 4oz, and now a juicy 23 week old babba doing fine, had her last nap in her carrycot then, LOL. We are just gonna take the pushchair then to keep quantities of baggage sensible (we fly this morning). I feel kinda sad thinking magic bean has outgrown it, and the sleep she is enjoying right now (I'm up early to finish packing etc.) will be her last night in her little crib by our bed too as she is getting too big for that, and by the time we come back she'll need to be in a cot !

Again, thanks for the input.
