Hepatitis A and Thypoid vaccine whilst pregnant?

I am at a loss. We are traveling to Thailand and will spend 3 days in Angkor Wat (Cambodia). It is recommended that we take Hepatitis ! and Thypoid vaccines - however I am 22 weeks pregnant. I have consulted nurses and some say it is ok to take these vaccines in the 2nd trimester... there is no research indicating that this may harm baby. At the same time the travel clinic wants me to get a letter from my obstetrician... so this is making me worried. Have any of you had this choice to make?

Thanks - Cocole

Hi OP, this is too important to ask advice from MNers from (even though we are of course all lovely, brilliant....) The London School of tropical medicine is a good place to start for really specialist and accurate advice. i went to them for my yellow fever jab (long story lots of allergies!) and they were fantastic. call them directly and speak to an expert. you need also to be v aware of drinking water, ice in drinking water, salads and raw fruit and veg and cooked foods. i assume this is your first and whilst i would never suggest anyone change long held plans for pregnancy ( it isnt an illness after all - just natural) there are lots of things like food poisoning that you need to consider before going. Get some good advice and get it quickly from the experts so you can make up your mind. Good luck for the future.

I thought I would share this information with you. If you are beyond your first Trimester both Hepatitis A as well as Thypoid vaccines are safe. You can also take Malaria tablets.

This thread is a few months old, but I have a similar question - are Hep A and Thypoid vaccinations OK if you're in your first trimester? I'm going to the GP in a few days time, but I wanna see if anyone from MN had similar experience before. Many thanks!
