Posting for a friend who is using air miles for free flights.

What European city break(s) have you had, would you recommend it and why?

Thanks

Vienna, Gorgeous city, beautiful in winter. Magical. Ended up there by accident in Jan a few years ago when we missed a connecting flight at the airport and Austrian Airlines had to accomodate us for 24hrs. We got a very cheap bus from the airport hotel (no distance at all) and wandered around. It was lovely, beautiful at night and only a couple of hours from the UK.

Also, Dubrovnik's worth a look. It's lovely and a bit different. The Adriatic Coast is cold but beautiful in the winter. Stayed in a gorgeous little hotel in a place called Mali Ston just outside the City. It's been five years since we've been, but I really want to go back.

Rome - such a beautiful place, fantastic food and always something to see - the italian temperament makes for great people watching!!

Also most sights are withing walking distance and it is fantastic to be able to walk around the corner and be faced by yet another breathtaking building and when you go inside the art is amazing.

I've been to Rome too, lovely

jolou - what makes Dubrovnik a bit different?

Any other suggestions anyone?

Vienna, but then I'm biased as I live there (and it's snowing right now).
