Disneyland Paris Hotels

I've tried searching for these answers on the official website, but I am having problems and I don't have the patience tonight. My questions are:

  1. do any of the hotels accommodate a family of five? That is, mum, dad plus children aged of 7, 5 and 2.
  2. if so, which hotels?
  3. is it more expensive than hiring 2 separate rooms, eg a family room for 4 ( even though only 3 would sleep) plus 1 room for 2 people. I know strange question but I've been in hotels where that has been the case.

Many thanks in advance.

Thank you PrinceHumperdink. I will look into both the Cheyenne and the Davy Crockett ranch.

Children under 3 don't count towards the occupany of a room so all the the hotels you can have 4 people in 1 room and 1 under 3 years old. As soon as you have 3 children over 3 you will need connecting rooms (sequoia's are lovely) or the family room in the Disneyland hotel

Hi,
If your 2 yr old can sleep in a travel cot, Disney will put one into a standard room. You do not pay for kids under 3, nor if you book with a kids under 7 or 12 stay and play free offer. Sometimes travel is free for them as well.

Most of the Santa Fe rooms have 2 double beds, as do the other Disney hotels apart from the Cheyenne, which has a double and set of bunks, so you need to consider whether your 7 and 5 yr olds will share a double bed without fighting! Families of 5 have had a travel cot in the Cheyenne, so if bunks are better for your older kids then I would consider this if you can't get one of the new family rooms at the Santa Fe, as there are not many of these.

Some of the hotels do have family rooms to accommodate up to 5/6 people. The Newport Bay Club has family rooms.
The Disneyland Hotel and the Hotel New York are the most expensive Disney owned hotels, and standard rooms are larger than the others. Some rooms have 2 double beds with a single sofa bed.

The Santa Fe has some new rooms which are for up to 6 people. They are like a small apartment, with 2 rooms with connecting door, so gives some privacy. It has 2 bathrooms, 2 single beds, 1 double bed, and one single bed with a pull out bed underneath, Santa Fe is the cheapest Disney hotel, no swimming pool. Approx 20 mins walk to the parks alongside the Rio Grande canal, past Lake Disney and through the Disney Village. 15 mins if you walk quickly! Rooms have Disney/ Pixar CARS theming.

The Explorers is a good family hotel, with an indoor pool, but is not Disney owned so no Extra Magic Hours in the morning, nor Characters in the hotel.
Rooms have one double and two single beds, with an optional connecting cabin room with a set of bunks, so can sleep 6. Outside the resort perimeter road, so not so easy to walk to/ from the parks. Free shuttle bus every 20 mins to the bus stops by the Village and railway station, close to both parks.

Two other places to consider are Adagio Aparthotel and Hotel Elysee in Val D'Europe. Transport to parks by free regular shuttlebus or one stop on the RER line A train. Close to the large shopping mall with Sealife Centre.
Adagio has an outdoor swimming pool open in summer and a restaurant for breakfast, and is good for those who prefer an apartment with lounge area and kitchen.

Hotel Elysee has family rooms, free shuttle bus to the parks, or by train, is very close to the shopping mall, and guests also get Extra Magic Hours in the park from 8am to 10am.

There is no transport at present from Davy Crockett Ranch, so you need a car if you are staying there. Approx 15 mins drive to Disneyland, then maybe queue to park, then walk to the parks. DCR guests have free parking at Disney.
Transport is planned for the future when they build the new holiday waterpark resort next door to DCR, but this will not be for some time.

Personally, I always phone Disney and book direct, or through my travel agent who gives me a bit more discount. It is also worth checking prices with Expedia, or with Eurostar if you are thinking of travelling by direct or indirect train to DLP.( indirect requires a change at Lille ).
Phone Disney on 08448 008 111 or
08448 008 898

See Trip Advisor DLP/ MLV forums for any advice concerning Disneyland Paris, where regular posters and visitors to DLP are happy to help. Also read through some previous DLP threads on Mumsnet.

This is the link for the TA Disneyland Paris forum, which is quite new. It is linked to the Marne La Vallee forum which has always been the one for Disneyland until TA opened a new one just for DLP recently. If you post on the new DLP one it comes up on the MLV one as well so it does not matter which one you use. Anyone can read TA, but you have to join up to post on forums.( free ).
At present, all the Top Questions are on the MLV forum so have a look at those. There's not much that we don't know about DLP.

Just to add.....when there are 3 kids or more aged 3 yrs and over with two parents, it is best to book when the special offers are on, as kids go free with one paying adult per room. So with two connecting rooms in the Santa Fe or Cheyenne budget hotels , with one parent in each room, the kids would stay and play free, and also travel free if that offer applies.
The Disney Irish site has been offering Free Dining as well, but not the UK site.

Thank you all for your advice.

I have decided to travel by Eurostar as the flights themselves cost as much or more than the 5 day stay at the Disney hotel!

I am seriously tempted by the Cheyenne Hotel, but this will be a family decision. I will update you on our decision.

Thanks again!

We always stayed in the Newport Bay in summer and the Sequoia Lodge in December. My boys liked the indoor and outdoor pools in the NBC, and spent a few hours swimming every afternoon during our stays, especially when very hot weather. You pay extra for Lake View rooms or Admirals Floor, but there are some nice Standard ones overlooking the outdoor pool with balconies.

I stayed in the Explorers with my sister and our 5 boys when it first opened,( and still being built! ) and the boys liked the Adventure theming and indoor pool, although the rooms were a bit smaller than we were used to in the Disney hotels. The main thing that I missed was not being able to walk to the parks and having to wait for shuttle buses. They can be a bit of a scrum at busy times, and usually run about every 15 - 20 mins. The buses stop at the other 4 hotels as well, depending on how full they are.

I stayed in the New York hotel last summer with my eldest son, and we liked it, but is the second most expensive hotel.

I have just booked to stay in the Cheyenne with DH in early October. He has only stayed in the NBC and Sequoia hotels, but I stayed in the Cheyenne in January with a TA DLP forum poster,( we met for the first time on the Eurostar on our way to DLP ) and found it perfectly fine for a Disney budget hotel. I liked the Cowboy Town set up, and think that DH will find it interesting as he likes the way that Disney theme their hotels and parks.

The current 25% off hotel, tickets and transport offer ends on the 30th June. No way of knowing what may come out next as it depends on bookings. The new brochure for Winter 2011/ 2012 should be coming out next month, and they may offer up to 40% off, but there will be high demand next year for the 20th Anniversary. Many people are waiting impatiently to book for next year.

Figgygirl · 27/05/2011 04:29

If you are travelling by Eurostar it ia worth asking for the Disney Express Service, so you can hand in your luggage at the station, and go straight into the parks on arrival at 1.30pm. They take your luggage to your hotel.
This does not cost anything when booked as a package with Disney, but people who have not booked the Eurostar through Disney can pay £ 16 per adult if booked in advance.
