We're staying near Blandford Forum for the May/June holiday and would really appreciate some tips of things we should do/must see places.

We're planning a day trip to Weymouth to see friends but have no ideas other than that. Have 3 DDs under 5.

TIA

Beach. Swanage railway - mind you I haven't been. Corfe Castle - again, haven't been. Lulworth Cove/Castle. athelhampton house - there was a very nice looking playground not far away, near the Tolpuddle Martyrs' Museum. nice cathderal in Salisbury.New forest (Beaulieu motor museum) and forest walks/ cycles/ picnics. Sammy Miller's Motorcycle Museum if anyone really likes bikes, but I'd say aficionados only.

You can park and ride from (I think) Norden to Swanage on the steam train, it is a nice journey (through Corfe) and a short walk from the station to the beach.

I really like Blue Pool, it is a nice place for kids to roam and they do a bloody lovely cream tea. There is play apparatus dotted around too for the kids.

Lulworth is a nice place for kids to visit and to look for mini beasts and fossils in the rock pools.

There is also MonkeyWorld.

Also, I do think Portland is worth a visit. Mine like clambering around on the rocks near Portland Bill, getting an icecream there. Church Ope Cove has a pirate gravestone in the cemetery, the footpaths near Chesil Beach are good to explore and the lagoon.

Actually, we went to Monkey World today and had a great time. DS got in free as he is not yet 3, and it only cost £11 for me, bargain. The adventure play areas were great with scope for children of all ages, from very littlies to roaring teens. It was hard not to reflect on the similarities between the baby apes swinging around their enclosures and the kids happily bouncing around the climbing frames...

Thanks so much. Monkey world sounds great and we'll definitely check that out and I'll go anywhere for a good cream tea saggy!

Hoping for good weather to the beach! Can't wait.
