taking drink on board a plane

We are due to go on holiday next wednesday. Myself and dh are both nervous fliers and always like to have a drink on board but as everyone knows the prices on board are horrendous. Someone has told me that you can take minature bottles of alcohol on board if you put them in clear plastic bags and put them in the tray with your keys etc as you go through. I'd like to know if anyone knows if this is correct? would rather not waste money on something that may be thrown in the bin before we get on. Thanks.

The drinks prices aren't bad, imo. Last time I was on Easyjet I paid about £4 for a gin & tonic.

Or you could have a drink in the bar before you board?

But yes, youcan take liquid if it's not in a bottle more than 100ml

I think you are only allowed to consume alcohol purchased on the plane.

The baa website states you can take any liquid under 100mls.
However im not sure if alcohol would be counted as a flammable.
Why not just drink at airport/on plane like the other millions of people do
