Portable DVD players - long journeys

Am thinking of buying a portable dvd player fo the car for long journeys. Does anyone have any recommendations. Two dds (aged 6 and 10) - pretty much watch the same films so should I buy a dual screen or individual ones each for each of my daughters? I noticed Tesco have a click and go' dual screen - has anyone got this and is it any good?

Generally tho, what do I need to consider when buying?
Thanks

DD has one (her second, don't let your DDs investigate the laser bit). It was a lifesaver when we flew a lot. We did consider getting an inbuilt one, but decided it was more practical to get one she could carry around.
The fewer controls it has the better, although your 10 YO will be OK, the 6 YO might find it tricky.

We've got a dual screen one from Argos - I think its Bush. Its great! Has been a bloody life (and sanity) saver on long journeys! Its not a fold down one though, it is meant to be strapped to the headrest and comes with a car charger which is great but I need to try and get a mains charger or something too as it won't play when it is out of the car!

Dual screen one from amazon. I think the brand is 'next' or similar. Remote control so you can control from the front if needed but guess a 6 and 10 yr old don't need that option. Highly recommended. Doesn't skip etc and wasn't too expensive either.

We find that DD, who is prone to travel sickness, finds it is is worse if she tries to watch DVDs in the car.

We have three DCs and they have one each. This is helpful as their tastes differ plus if one falls asleep they arent all stuck watching that DC's choice. This used to happen lots when DCs were smaller and DS would be stuck watching 'My little pony' with a sleeping sister on either side (we were strict about taking turns to choose!).

If you go for one each then make sure you have the power supply.

Thanks for this. GdPlume...you have 3?? so does this mean you are confined to using the battery then as u cdnt plug 3 into the cig lighter socket...? Also, is there a problem with screen reflection at all. dd1 has a nintendo and often says it's too reflective to play when the sun is shining

Worth their weight in gold.
We've got a dual screen one but my DTs like the same stuff.

WhereamI - DH is an electrician so has no trouble in rigging up multiple power points. You can get splitters for the power points. It is just a matter of working it out some time before the holiday and having a trial run. Depends also on your car, ours is a people carrier and has power points at the front & the back.

My DCs arrange their own sun screens - they will quite often put travel blankets up in the windows. 'tis terrible. We are travelling through beautiful scenery and the DCs are hidden away with their headphones on (dont forget these!). After much experimentation they now carry the DVD players on their laps.

The DCs know to take regular breaks from watching DVDs. DD1 now more listens to music than DVDs. We also mix things up a bit with stories on CD which they also listen to through the DVD players.
