Do I need a car seat in aeroplane for 4.5month old from UK to Ireland?

Okay, this may seem a daft question but I've read and re-read the Easyjet policy on baby and toddler travel and I cannot definitively decide whether it says that I need to take a carseat for my baby to sit in on the flight, or that it doesn't apply to infants and DH and I can take it in turns to hold her. Slightly panicked as had forgotten it was on my To Do list this week to call Easyjet and find out this information and now it's 10pm the night before a bank holiday and we're leaving on Monday. So grateful if anyone can enlighten me!

Also, DD is FF and I under stand that the current policy is that it's ok to take formula through. Does it have to be in bottle or can it be in carton? And has anyone had a problem with this in practice?

Thank you so much in advance for any advice!

Have you paid for her to have a seat? If not I think she will sit on your lap won't she?

They HAVE to sit on your lap for take off and landing. You can buy a seat if you want, but at that age it is really not necessary. If you take a bottle you have to taste it at security. or you can buy cartons afterwards.

I flew BA england to Scotland and didnt use car seat, i was provided with a loop belt and dd stayed in sling bf'n.

Don't know about Easyjet but I'm pretty sure Ryanair insists you hold infants on your lap. Have you actually booked an extra seat as infant fares are normally low as they don't use a seat....

You have to have the baby on your lap - no car seat because you haven't paid for a seat for your DD. Some people said on another thread the other day that they have had formula taken away if it's over 100ml but I tasted mine and got it through - guess it depends on whether you have uptight security or not. But you can buy cartons once you're through security so it's not the end of the world if they make you tip it away.

Baby on your lap with an extra lap belt. You can check in the car seat for free on easy jet though if you need it for car or taxi while you're away.

Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciate your time! DH booked tickets and am assuming we didn't pay for DD to have seat but will double check. I had a feeling that under-twos sat on laps but that was from my friend who's daughter is now ten years old, so wasn't sure if that was now totally out of date!

Thanks again, will sleep better now.

Oh and another handy tip - feed her during take off and landing, helps equalise the pressure in babies' ears. :)
