I won't take my DC to India, but my sister traveled though India with her 3yo and disagrees.

Where else should I avoid?

Cairo is absolutely fine - just got back from there.

However, Qena (ni the millitant middle Egypt) is not, and infact is blocking road and train traffic through. As I know from bitter experience

I have travelled a lot and am cautious about where I travel with children.

I have been in a bus crash and needed medical treatment for d&v in south and central America but I have never needed it in western Europe.

I know a couple of people who have been in very serious road traffic accidents in India and their experience with the police and medical establishment they would not want to repeat.

I know a family who went to India last year and got caught up in the floods, they didn't have contact with the outside world for a few weeks.

Of course many people go to these countries and a a great time, but I don't think it's really worth the risk for children who are too small to appreciate it, especially as there are so many wonderful places to visit in the UK and Europe.

The guest who posted re travelling with young children just wants to be sure his kids are ok. I think this is v sensible really.I did not start the post re Thailand : someone else did.If you read again you will see I said vast maj of people have a great time abroad. I would still go/travel as it is amazing to do this but you just need to be aware and do your research.2 colleagues of mine are married to Thais and no regrets. Travel is great!!!

Agree with Belgo.Even In Eu though the standard of care can be excellent, they have different cultural boundaries. In a certain Eu country they do not permit young children to visit in hospitals: tough if you do not have a baby sitter:yet they had no set visiting hours so any adult could just turn up and stay for hours.Impossible to sleep with all the noise.
