Hi,

Our children are 3 and 9 months. I need recommendations for a beach holiday somewhere quiet, with lovely food, nice towns to see and things like that. It should be very close to a beach and ideally we would prefer not to have to hire a car, although we are prepared to do so if necessary.

If you can also recommend accommodation in the area, that'd be great! Thanks so much in advance.

Well, we stayed near the beach in Tuscany, at San Vincenzo, but you would need a car down there, it's a bit of a trip to the really lovely places in Tuscany.

We did a Eurocamp type place, what sort of accommodation are you after?

There's always the beach along Venice Lido and that kind of area, but I don't know if it's quiet. Might depend of time of year?

Sorry, that doesn't help does it Grin

We spent a week here in Ceriale when dd was 6 months old. 5 minutes to the beach, town centre and supermarket. Enormous pool. Kids animation in the school holidays. The apartments were basic but clean and funtional. We flew to Nice and got the train/taxi but Genoa is nearer I think. The train runs the whole way along the coast and there is also a bus - so easy to get to towns like Loano and Albenga which are both lovely. Loano has a lovely long prom with the old town behind. There is also a water park in Ceriale.

The food was lovely! We went in September - the weather was fabulous and we had the pool to ourselves. A few of the restaurants had closed but there was still plenty of choice. There was a good takeaway pizza place just down the road. We used to wheel dd out for a stroll in the evening, have a drink and then if she dozed off we'd grab a meal, or otherwise put her to bed and get a pizza/make some pasta. Everywhere was very child friendly. Dd was clucked over by everyone and discovered breadsticks to suck on. It was a lovely holiday.

Have you thought about hiring one? There are companies who hire out baby equipment in Italy. It might be cheaper and less hassle? Where abouts in Italy are you going? We have had a number of family holidays in Italy and have had a lovely time on them all!!

How about Sardinia? We stayed in Chia in the South at the Chia Laguna - was very family oriented with beautiful beaches and lovely food.
