Stokke Xplory and flying (or any other "big" buggy like Bugaboo Cameleon, etc)

I'm flying BA with my DD in a couple of days - European flight. On the BA website, it says that small, light pushchairs can be taken on board of the plane. What about Stokke? I have a huge travelling bag for it, which will make it look even bigger. Will they let me take it to the plane or will I have to check it in with my suitcases?

TIA

I have travelled loads with my bugaboo in it large travel case - it has to go through outsize luggage and into the hold, but I never had a problem on BA, EasyJet and even Ryan Air!

You should be able to take it right up to the gate with you then put it in the bag and they will take it from you. You'll get it back ready for when you leave the plane. This is what we've done with our Xplory in the past.

Thanks! I tried to call BA yesterday and today but apparently they have "a high volume of calls at this moment" and then cut me off. Chaaaarming. So I thought Mumsnet to the rescue so I know what to expect.

Also if I can take it through, how do they scan pushchairs? Will I have to dismantle it and put bit by bit on the conveyor belt or is there a special place they scan them? Basically, I am wondering whether I should put DD in the pram after getting out of the car (for the 2 hours wait before we take off) or keep it in the bag till after I do through the security? I will take her sling for the plane but I would like to avoid keeping her in it for 4 hours instead of 2.
