Whereabouts in Bayswater? and how old is ds?

There are lots of chain places in Whiteleys on Queensay - Yo Sushi, Café Rouge, ASK Pasta; there are all the Chinese restaurants on Queensway itself and the Middle Eastern and Indian ones on Westbourne Grove; also there's a Cote on W'bourne Grove, and other pizza/hamburger places (Gourmet Burger Kitchen a big draw), and a couple of tapas places (El Pirata de Tapas very glam). Or you could have smart hotdogs at the All Star Lanes, or scruffy (in surroundings terms) hotdogs at Queensway Ice & Bowl. There is also the marvellous Tiroler Hut, which is an Austrian ski chalet with gluwein, fondue, lederhosen and cowbell cabaret under the tarmac of Westbourne Grove.

The only ones of those you'd remotely have to book for on a Friday evening early are Tiroler Hut and El Pirata, neither of which are probably appropriate for a very small ds.

Hmm 5 and 7, not pizza or Chinese ... Does Greek appeal? There are two nice Greek places, one tiny & modest Kalamaras in Inverness Mews just east of Queensway, and the other very well-known & bustling (though also very down to earth) Halepi in Leinster Terrace. Bayswater really is stuffed with places to eat, so where you're staying is relevant - you won't want to walk past 10 fine options to get to a marginally better one.

I think I might try one of the Middle Eastern/Lebanese ones, with small children - always lots of families there, and lots of different things to try. AlWaha is well known. Banana Tree is looking interesting too. Also have liked the look of the bistro called Bloody French, though haven't been there.

thanks, am staying at leinster square, middle eastern sounds good, but so does greek,

That's quite easy then - you could choose between

Greek: Aphrodite Taverna right across from Leinster Square

or

Middle Eastern: Al Waha just round the corner

Maps are on links. If neither of those appeal, as before there are lots of non-chain pizzas round there plus Cote, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, etc. You won't have a problem!
