What are the baby seats like on BA flights? would they suit a 6mth old?

We're flying to Miami on Friday with DH, DS 6 and DD 6 mths, I'm used to travelling long haul a lot with DS when he was young but he was 9mths for 1st long haul flight and it was so long ago I can't remember! DH pre booked our seats as we get priority as we have an infant we got 3 seats together but didn't manage to get the bulkhead, does anyone know how it works? looking back at old posts it seems younger babies get priority and you can book a bassinet/baby seat even of you don't have a bulkhead.

We're flying Business so I can get DS to share with DD but I'd prefer her to be strapped in somewhere? should I take my car seat?

Any advice would be very helpful, also any tips too!

I'd have a word with BA asap.

If you're in business (Club World) there are no bulkhead seats in that section anyway. (Premium Economy is usually a four row or so section and the front row of PE has bulkhead seats). DS will have his own seat in CW: they won't allow that seat to be shared with his younger sibling.

The car seat may not fit the dimensions of a CW seat.

Your DD will be on your lap for take off and landing; they will provide a lap belt extender for this purpose.

Portable DVD Player for DS if you have one is a good idea; childrens programmes can be limited.

Do not rely on BA to fully provide re foodstuffs for the children; take enough of what they enjoy to eat on the plane.

If you're going from T5 there is a Giraffe cafe airside which is family friendly.

when we flew with BA a few years back (and the planes have prob been refitted, so no idea if this still holds - we try to avoid BA on the whole) you could get bulkhead seats in top deck business class.

dd2 was in the car seat/bouncy chair thing. she was 14 months, and tiny (prob weighed around 14lb), and she was fine in it - it is like a beefed up bouncy chair, which straps to the flip down table at the bulkhead.

def agree that you need to take food for the baby (and your ds) - BA food not really very child friendly (but then we have to book allergy meals, and there is no allergy child meal option, so they always end up with eg gazpacho, rocket salad, cold mediterranean vegetable mix etc, and neither of them will touch it)

Thanks for your help ladies, I called this morning and apparently we do have the cot even though it's not showing up on the computer! I'm taking our car seat anyway and i can use it on the floor in front of us if need be or use lots of blankets on the floor. Once we've taken off i'm sure they'll be flexible and she can lie on the footrest bid of seat when it;s not a bed ( as if I'll ever get to use it as a bed and actually sleep! Defo taking lots of food and DVD player, DS lots of surprises, Pom bear etc etc! Now I just need to find my drivers license I''ve looked everywhere and it;s nowhere to be found, oh no this means i'm at the mercy of DH for the whole trip!

Hi there

There are bulkheads in club world. It is a 747 that operates to Miami. Depending on aircraft configuration you will be seated in row 14 or row 20 for a bassinet/baby seat position. On the upper deck it is row 64.
Take a look at www.seatguru.com for further info!
As far as putting little one on the floor - this is a no no but the crew will look after you and explain everything to you when you get onboard.
Not sure whether you will get the buggy onboard as it's half term I think but it's worth a try.
Have a great flight and a really lovely holiday.

"Once we've taken off i'm sure they'll be flexible and she can lie on the footrest bid of seat when it;s not a bed"

I don't think they'll allow you to do that. The footrest is not really designed to take a person's weight.

I would also wonder about the feasibility of actually taking the carseat onto the aircraft; you may well find that you will not be able to use it on board. They will not permit you to place blankets on the floor either but they will look after you. I have seen parents with babies in CW being very well treated by aircrew.

Hope you find your driving licence and have a nice holiday!.

I'm also taking this flight to Miami in July when DS will be 4 months. Would love to hear how you got on. Did your LO struggle with the time change?
