Cardif Bay area was lovely last weekend - lots of nice restaurants/cafes around there.

The bus tour is good for seeing all of the best bits.

Depends what you're interetsted in really, will you have a car with you?

Cardiff castle is right in the centre, castell coch is gorgeous on the north edge of cardiff and Caerphilly castle is only 20 mins drive away.

Cardiff bay has lots going on and plenty of good restaurants. Maybe see what's on at the Millenium Centre if you fancy seeing a show. Trip on the water bus is good on a nice day.

National museum is very central and free.

Tour around the Millenium stadium if either of you are into sport.

Southern down beach is lovely, Dan y ogaf caves, Cardiff bay has good restaurants and good to spend an evening.
Depends on what you really want to do.
You can hit Brecon Beacons National park in 45 mins.

Some really nice restaurants by the Marriott Hotel/John Lewis. Have the chains, Jamie O's, Carluccios, etc but there's Giovanni's Italian opposire Jamies' - a small family restaurant. Or further out of the centre, there's Mustard & Mash (Indian) and theres the Pontcanna area.

Making my tummy rumble!

sheba2288 · 13/04/2011 17:15

Mint & mustard sorry!

We went to Giovannis - it was lovely. A proper neighbourhood Italian - type of place you'd expect a waiter with an obscenely large pepper grinder. It was ds's birthday and they brought him a big serving of tiramisu with candles and did the whole Happy Birthday singing thing.
