The Lion King - is it worth the most expensive seats?

Dh has decided to treat us all to 2 days in London - hurrah! and we're going to take the dds (5 & 9) to see the Lion King.

Tickets are £39 or £57.

Is it worth the more £££ ones just to be right in the thick of it? I just can't bring myself to pay for them before I get an opinion from someone who's been - it's such a lot of money (although dh says he doesn't mind)

Thanks

It's a fab show though. Can you get aisle seats?

oneofsuesylvesterscheerios · 20/03/2011 09:25

Not sure. On lastminute.com, it just specifies 'top price, 3rd price, 4th price'. Top price seems to be for front stalls or royal circle.

yes yes yes it is worth top price seats. We went before christmas and I had the same hesitation as it is a lot of money but if you are in the stalls the birds fly over your heads elephants run past you - it is amazing and by being in the stalls you really get the feel for it. I cannot recommend this enough. it is without a doubt the best show I have ever seen and you will love it! Cant wait to see it again (i hope...!) enjoy

We didn't have top price seats and we loved it. We were in the circle, got a fantastic view of the whole stage, which I sometimes think you miss out on when in the stalls.

Oh no! The seats left in the stalls were right off to one side so I opted for royal circle, not very far back and quite central. Still quite ££££! But very excited anyway. We haven't told the dds about it - it's a surprise!!!

The stalls are fab for all the characters running past you, etc but I think you miss out a little bit on the 'whole', iyswim.

We were in the stalls but parts where the whole company is on stage and some of the elements such as the waterhole drying up would have been better viewed from the circle as you are that little bit further away and can take in the entire stage.

It depends what you think the dds would enjoy more - the closeness of the characters and the interaction, or to be able to see everything that's going on without having to change where you are looking constantly.

It's an amazing show, they will love it, I'm very Envy, dh is still saying ours are too young atm.

We got the front row next to the aisle for dd1 7th birthday. She was captivated throughout. When all the animals came past us her face was a picture. We could practically touch rafiki, she was looking right at dd and dn who were both wearing lion king tshirts as she was singing the opening number. We told them that she was telling everyone how gorgeous they both were in africaans. Bless them, they still talk about 5 yrs on. Only bad point as someone else posted is that you can't see top of pride rock so miss some of the action. We have also had seats in circle and gallery which were still good.
