Mark Warner - are children of 1 and 2 too young?

Hi
We are thinking of a Mark Warner holiday. Our children will be 1 and 2 and a half. Is this too young for them? Are Mark Warner holidays good? Has anyone been to The Beach in Sri Lanka?
Thanks
Jude

We took our dd on a Mark Warner holiday when she was 14mos - let's put it this way, you're the odd ones out if you don't have a child under five with you

The holiday was great, but dh and I really love sailing and windsurfing so we may be a little biased!

their childcare is brilliant - personally not too sporty so MW's not truly my thing (also found their food/wine at best adequate), however, it was wonderful to have some free quality time knowing that ds was not only being well-looked after but really having fun. The nannies they employ are of a much higher calibre than the nursery nurses typical of most nurseries. Our ds was about 1 1/2 when we first went.

Ds's have been going to MW since they were 4 months (oldest now 4 yo), and have loved it. Shoudl suit your age group really well.

The Beach is a new MW destination as far as I know.

sounds fab... have looked at MW before but never thought of going. How old is too old for the children?

ladymuck · 24/10/2005 22:29

Hmmm, wel its fairly expensive in school holidays, but there's plenty to do for all ages (and the 14-18 year olds even have their own forums etc where they meet up and chat post holiday). There are usually a handful of over5s who go during term time, but I'm not sure that they have as much fun.

kiwibelle · 24/10/2005 22:53

wow... that old? My girls should be ok. I've been tempted by the childcare and activities for them to participate in but, you're right, they are very expensive holidays. I imagine totally worth it though if you come home with everyone having had a fantastic break .

So will my 8yo be OK at Chistmas?

ladymuck · 25/10/2005 08:55

Are you going during school holiday times?

katymac · 25/10/2005 08:58

Yes on the 24th Dec (for a week) - hope there will be enough childen for DD to play with

ladymuck · 25/10/2005 09:03

School holidays will be heaving with kids - you have absolutely nothing to worry about!

just got a MW brochure in the post... was amazed that the prices as good as double during the school holidays. Being a teacher, this is the only time I could think about going.

I've been to a MW in Corsica, and I thought the childcare was excellent. DS refused to stay in the nursery but that wasn't the staff's fault--he just wasn't ready to leave us for a whole day & we didn't want to upset him by insisting.
