Flying with Baby milk - security issues?

I'm flying in 2 weeks time with my DS. I am planning to express my milk as I'm not confident with breast feeding in public due to wonky boobs (long story Blush)

Does anyone know how it works. Was planning on bringing through 8 bottles of 5oz/150ml in each (obvisouyl in cool bag)

Do i need to try them all?

Will they still be sterile/Ok to give to the baby???

sorry - first time mum so a bit Confused about the whole thing!

You are only allowed to take in your hand luggage what you will need on the flight, so I suppose that depends on how old your DS is and how long the flight is. I'm not sure how long they will stay ok/sterile for but I would not keep them out of the fridge for too long. You might be better off with a big shawl and going for it (breastfeeding that is)! It saves an awful lot of carrying and is so convenient.

You will have no way of keeping the milk cool - your cool bag will be ok but I doubt you will get away with the freezer pack inside to keep cold. So I'd be worried about the milk. Depending on who you get at security you may be asked to tase 2-3 of them but you may be asked to taste them all. In that case, you re opening the milk and therefore to me it would become contaminated.

Don't be worried about feeding. ANyone who looks or passes any form of comment is being a twat.

Hmm not worried about the looks from people about breast feeding in public - it's more the silly angle - finding a bench rather than a chair - as I have to rugby ball DS - and can't do it at the moment without 2 pillows at my side to balance DS on.

I figured I could pour some of the milk out into the lid and taste it from that - and then the milk would still be ok and not contaminated?

And would they take the cool pack off me? Surely that doesn't actually count as liquid does it?

Yes as it contains a liquid and if it is over 100 ml then yes it will be taken off you.

YOu can try it but just show the bottles from the start and ask security not to touch them at all as their hand will have been allover everything!

I had rubgy ball with DS too.
