Bonjour - houseswap in pyrenees or Grenoble? What's better?

I've been to Grenoble to fly in and out of for a ski holiday but that's it. I have two lots of people who are keen on houseswapping with us - one in Pau in the Pyrenees, one in Grenoble.

Have no idea which to choose - houses look much of a muchness. Me and DS, 4.

Any thoughts please?

Ok so I'm biased as I have family living near Pau and I think it's the most wonderful laid back place. I haven't been to Grenoble since a child so I can't comment (though do remember it was a great place), but the area around Pau has mountains, sea, is peaceful and generally fantastic. Weather can definitely be stormy in the summer so you probably won't have day after day of sun, but then you wouldn't in Grenoble! It isn't the most lively area however there's more than enough to do for a holiday with children. I doubt my ramblings help, but just wanted to vote Pau!

Oh no, you're wrong, that's very helpful! We live very close to the sea here so am not after a beach holiday so I thought mountains would be good. I've been to the Alps loads of times but never to the Pyrenees so I'm quite keen to explore a new area. Someone else I spoke to today said the same thing so I'm going with Pau!

:)

Hi
Another vote for the Pyrenees - less polluted than Grenoble, and still plenty to do. Fewer tourists aswell. Can get very hot and muggy in summer, but then that gets broken up by a lovely summer storm (which can be pretty impressive to watch).

If you do go to Pau and you'd like some tried and tested places to go, things to do, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with (though a good guide book would be just as helpful I'm sure!)
