Thinking of going to Disneyland Paris for a couple of nights with my DS and a friend and her DS. Not sure where to begin in terms of finding an affordable deal. we are flexible about dates. Anyone got any advice?

Hi,
Generally, the best deals are with Disney, when they have a special offer on. Offers are not always the same, but the best one is 40% off hotel tickets and transport with kids under 7 or 12 stay and play free. This ended a short while ago, and may not be offered until later, if at all this year. It all depends on how their bookings are going.
The current offer is 20% off hotel, tickets and transport, with kids under 12 stay and play free.
When comparing prices, make sure you check whether park tickets are included, as this makes a difference.
There are cheaper options than staying in a Disney hotel or in resort if you are on a tight budget, and cheaper places to buy park tickets than on the Disney website.
People can help on the Trip Advisor MLV forum, which mainly covers Disneyland. They can answer most questions about resort and area.

May be worth checking this site, as they seem to be offering 40% off.

Also worth checking Eurostar site package prices if you are planning to travel to Disneyland by train.

Somtimes I book through my local Co-Op travel agent, as they phone Disney for the current price, then knock off another 5% for me. They need business, so always worth being cheeky and asking.

Regarding Disney offers, you need to play around with dates and hotels - some hotels are cheaper on different dates, and some have more discount than others. They do not always have the same offer.
Disney change this all the time, according to current bookings.
I find it easier to phone and get prices over the phone - it is only valid while they have it on screen. If you phone back later it could have gone up or down. I usually check hotels I am intersested in, and various dates to find the best deal.

Sometimes if you telephone the official disneyland people they will move heaven and earth to get you a good deal - their site wouldn't let me book during one of their special offers, and they managed to beat their best offer when I phoned up to complain - even after that particular offer had closed.

By the way, if you are flexible with dates I would strongly advise you avoid British and French school holidays and weekends. The difference in atmosphere and enjoyment is huge.

By the way, there are 6 Disney owned hotels, and 5 non Disney ones in resort.
Other cheaper accommodation is within easy reach by using the RER line A4 train from resort, or free shuttle bus.

It is not always cheaper to book using the Disney website - prices can be cheaper and also more availability over the phone.
When I was looking online, the Eurostar was coming up as not available on my dates.
When I phoned Disney it was available both ways.

Reagrding when to go - it depends on what you want to see.
My favourite time is Summer Time, as I love the electrical parade and fireworks, and being in the park until midnight. Ride entrances close at 11pm, so you can get in quickly at 10.55pm and you will still ride. Parks are very busy, but I like the atmosphere. There are also extra shows and less likely to have rides closed for refurb.
A good time to go for quiet parks but still to see Fantillusion electrical parade and other extras is beginning of December, when Enchanted Christmas begins. The park looks very pretty with Christmas decorations and lights, and with an extra Dreams Of Christmas Parade, and Mickeys Winter Wonderland ice skating show.
Halloween time is very popular, and also Easter holidays, so best to go in term time if you can.
It depends how old your DS's are, and if they can miss school or not.
You need to check the UK, French and also Spanish school holidays.

we went with this company
we phoned rather than booked on line and got 1st class eurostar for the same price as standard class. you can also do a hroalf board package, we did the mid priced one, 130 for 2 adults and 1 child for 2 days.

You can book with a company called 'out and about' who run across the East Midlands area - they are great value and great service .. the website is www.outandaboutevents.co.uk
Check them out!

Does this company only cater for people in the Midlands area? I can't see where coach pick ups are, so hard to tell.
If you look on their Discounts page, it says ' Discounts for 2010 will be coming soon'.
That's a bit worrying. It doesn't give a very good impression IMO.
A 2 nt stay in a Disney hotel gives 3 days park entry, not 2. I guess it only gives 2 days because you have to leave early, or cannot use arrival day.
The price says based on 4 adults sharing, so be aware that the Santa Fe has mostly rooms with two double beds. You can get a babies travel cot in there, but not an extra child.
Four adults taking a child over 2 yrs would need to book two connecting rooms, which will cost more.
Some of the other hotels have family rooms for 5 - 6 people which usually work out cheaper.
Thanks for the link though, worth checking.
