Anyone know how many bags you can take shorthaul with Aer Lingus?

It says on the website that the checked-in limit is 20lbs per person. We have DD, who is under 2, so she doesn't get her own allowance (other than the pushchair), but can DH and I take more than 1 bag each ourselves (as long as not more than 20lbs per person)?

Sorry, I know this sounds a bit of a dumb question Smile

The website doesn't answer my question, and am reluctant to ring them as I find them unfriendly and unhelpful over the phone.

The checked baggage allowance is actually 20kgs

This is what it says on the website - it usually works out cheaper to pre-book any baggage, even excess baggage. I should imagine that if you tried to pre-book the baggage it may give you the option to select excess baggage. If it doesn't permit this then I would conclude that you weren't able to take anything over your allowance.

Checked Baggage Allowance
Shorthaul flights (Europe)
Economy - Low Fare - Baggage fees apply for each checked bag.
Economy - Flexi Fare - Baggage fees apply for 3rd and subsequent checked bags.
No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, even within a party travelling on the same booking.
A maximum of 9 bags per passenger can be booked on the website.
A maximum of 20kgs (44lbs) in total checked baggage weight per passenger.
Excess weight is charged per kilo per flight in excess of the allowance.
Discount excess weight fee available if the fee is paid up to two hours prior to departure online. Standard excess weight fee is charged at the airport.
Infant baggage allowance is ONE collapsible buggy/stroller only, free of charge.
Sports Equipment such as golf bags or skis will be charged at the applicable rate.
The fees are non-refundable.
For more details on Baggage Fees see our Baggage Fee Section on aerlingus.com.

Cheers, yes I meant to put 20kgs, not 20lbs!

I couldn't find that bit for some reason, d'oh. Thanks

we flew with them last weekend and they didn't seem to care about everyone having lots of hand luggage, if that's any help... people had wheelie bags + computer bag + handbag + dutyfree + coat + newspapers and a latte and a little something for the flight...

that's ok, I just imagined you trying to cram everything into 20lbs !
