hello,

im sure your all well aware of the current 'situation' in the UK at the moment in terms of the economical deficit, the cuts, the tax increases and most worring of all for me an my family - the lack of job for the under 25's.

I have worked as a dental nurse for the last 3 years, my partner as a tradesman and we have recently both been made redundant. We cannot find work, money is tight and our lifestly consists of scraping our money together to pay bills and saturday nights in with frozen pizzas and freeview.

Proior to having our 8 month old annie - prior to commitment to our family life - we both had stints of working and living in greece the best time of our lives - prior to the birth of annie of course.

My partners best friend and his girlfriend are from the UK but live in magaluf. They are here at the moment as they have just had a little boy but plan to go back to live and work in magaluf with thier baby as soon as he is 3 months.

My partners nan is a jet setter and spends 10months of the year flicking between spain and goa. although of course she dosent have children her stories of travel and culture leave me all goosebumped and glazy eyed.

I am expecting around £3K in redundancy pay from our work and we are considering using the money to set up abroad? we dont know where yet - we know people in zante and in magaluf but does anyone know where else we could get work?

what do you think?
does anyone have experience with traveling and living abroad with children?

I would advise you to think very carefully. I can remember seeing telly programmes about people who have sold everything in the UK and gone off to live their dream in the sun.
I realise that these programmes are focussing on those who failed spectacularly, but it is still food for thought.
Would either you or your DP be able to train for a desirable job? My DH is a teacher and with his qualification we've travelled the world.
Bar and restaurants are dependant on tourists rather than locals IME. As the economy in the UK gets worse, people are less likely to go on holiday.
