Not sure where to put this so help if u can...do you own a holiday cotage?

I am thinking of renting a holiday cottage UK for 3 weeks- using it as a chilling out base while i re-charge my creative batteries.

The place I have in mind is a bit too expensive, compared to other properties and I know they are selling it too.

They have said they would accept an "offer" below the advertised weekly rental as I would not need the place cleaning etc as if it was a weekly let.

Any ideas what kind of % I should knock off?

15-20% would seem reasonable. Anymore would be rude.

For a 3 week out of season break in one of my cottages I would give 20 - 30% discount, but high season probably only 5 - 10%.

We often have writers/musicians staying at my cottages as we are reasonably remote and have limited phone/internet access and we always discount, particulary as a couple of music agents now recommend us!

But..I've recently had an enquiry for New year for one of my cottages (one of our peak weeks) asking for a 40% early booking discount - you can imagine my reply!

However, most of us holiday cottage owners are open to a reasonable offer - you can only try an offer and if they say no, move on to another place.
