Shrewsbury, Worcester or Hereford to live?

We are looking to move to the Midlands ( we have to stay within these areas due to work). Any ideas on the best places to bring up young children? etc etc We want access to good schools, nice scenery but also easy access to the North and South of England. I was brought up in Oxfordshire and loved it but can't move back there at the moment. My partner is from Lancashire. Any comments very welcome

Worcester definately. Good schools, great motorway access to M5. Hereford a PIA to get to. Lots of incomers so more accepting. S'bury too old fashioned.

Hereford is a LONG way from anywhere else; however, is a nice city, with great access to the Welsh hills. Worcester can feel a bit like Birmingham commuter village (but does therefore have the advantage its much easier to get in and out of), private schools there have good reputations. Lived in Shrewsbury for a year and loved it, but again, its a long way away (from anywhere really, except Snowdonia, where we spent a lot of time). In any of them, be VERY careful anywhere you choose to live is above flood level! Shrewsbury school is of course famous and ultra posh. Didn't have children when we lived there, so no idea about schools in general

We are about to move to Oswestry,a town near Shrewsbury from Birmingham. It seems to have best of both worlds only 90 mins from Birmingham and 30 mins from Chester. Nice and rural but accesible to everything schools seem excellent.

Worcester best for schools

Does it have to be a city? Malvern is lovely and not too far from M50, also direct train to Brum (tho' takes a while). Or moving further east, Warwickshire (Stratford, Warwick)? Latter has much better transport connections, pleasant scenery, good schools
