5 is a fab age to go to Disney, tall enough to go on the vast majority of the rides but still young enough to believe in the magic! I have stayed in the Disneyland hotel which is the one at the main gates and was totally overpriced and very disappointing, also stayed at the New York which was still expensive but felt much better value. I think this one is better placed for the Disney village which is where you end up eating most evenings.

We took DD when she was five and it seemed the perfect age.

We stayed in the Disneyland Hotel and unlike PalmTrees we really enjoyed it. We felt one of its main advantages was the proximity to the main gates so we could be in the park in minutes on foot. this was good for two reasons:
(1) Easier to beat the crowds and get in first in the morning
(2) In the middle of the day when DD was getting tired we could go back to the hotel room, have a rest, go for a swim, then return to the park without a tremendous amount of travelling.

Also we went to one of their character breakfasts and that was one of the highlights for DD - a bit expensive but we felt it was worth it.

Hi there,
There are two parks in Disneyland, both with rides and attractions that your 5 yr old will enjoy. One night in the Disneyland Hotel can cost the same as two nts in a cheaper Disney hotel, where you will still get Etxra Magic Hours.
There is a forum just for Disneyland Paris on Trip Advisor, under Marne La Vallee, where you can find lots of info in the Top Questions , park maps, park programmes, ride information etc, and also ask DLP veterans your own questions.
There is one TQ about where to stay.
It really comes down to budget and personal preference. In the colder months, or with very young children, the Disneyland Hotel is handy as it is built at the DL park entrance, and also close to the Studios Park next door.Easy to pop back to your room for a rest, change of clothes, warm up for a while, or a swim in the indoor pool. ( open all day from 8.30am until 10pm ).
However, the other 5 Disney owned hotels are also within a short walking distance or free shuttle bus.
My sons never wanted to stay in the DLH as they thought it too pink and girly, with a sickly sweet smell - but little girls especially probably love it as it is the most princessy of the Disney hotels.
The New York, Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay Club hotels are on 3 sides of Lake Disney, about 8 - 10 mins walk from the parks through the Disney Village.
The NY was built as a more adult alternative to the DLH, and is the next most expensive hotel, and the next closest to the parks. It is close to Cafe Mickey where you can book Character breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Sequoia Lodge is just round the corner from the NY, along the side of the lake, so between the NY and the NBC, which are at opposite ends of the lake.
All the Disney hotels are being refurbshed at present - the Sequoia with new Bambi theming. I have posted a link for refurbished room photos on the TA MLV forum today, under latest DLP news. The Sequoia has rooms in the main building ( Montana rooms ) and 5 lodge buildings. Not all rooms have been refurbished yet, but I know that Yosemite lodge rooms have.
The NBC is a lovely hotel, but very large, and a longer walk at present as they are building a new restaurant on the Village side of the lake, so NBC guests have to walk the long way round, past the Sequoia and NY to get to the Village and parks, or catch the free shuttle bus.The NBC has the nicest pools IMO. The outdoor one is lovely in summer.
These buses go every 12 minutes all day, from early until late.
If you are on a tight budget, or want to stay longer for your money, consider the Santa Fe or Cheyenne hotels, which are about 15 mins walk to the parks, or free bus.The Cheyenne is built like a cowboy town, with great theming, so appeals to boys especially. Some people prefer the Cheyenne to any of the other hotels.
The Santa Fe is more like a motel, vehicles can park close to the room blocks rather than in a large separate hotel car park.It is not very attractive from the outside, but inside is being redecorated with a Disney/ Pixar CARS theme.
Then you have got 5 non Disney hotels outside the resort perimeter road, but you do not get Extra Magic Hours if staying here.
You can read reviews and see travellers photos of all these hotels on www.tripadvisor.com
Have a look, then find the MLV forum for further help.I am on that forum most days, along with other posters who also know DLP very well.

PS. If you tell your Disney hotel that it is your daughter's birthday they will put balloons in your room, with a card. Also take some birthday badges for her to wear, so the CM's ( Cast Members ) can see them. You can also arrange for a birthday cake with lit candles to be brought to your table in a restaurant. the Staff will sing Happy Birthday.

If you want Characters there, you have to book this for a Character Dining restaurant in the park, ( she would probably love Auberge De Cendrillon with the mice from Cinderella and Princesses ) in Inventions restaurant in the DLH, or Cafe Mickey in the Village. ( Or The Steakhouse, but only Sunday lunchtime ).

Birthday cakes are chocolate, and quite large - for 4 to 6 people. They cost ? 25.

By the way, whether you spend time or eat in the Village may depend on when you go.
In summer when the DL Park rides close at 11pm, it is often around midnight before we leave the park. We have dinner in one of the restaurants in the parks usually.
In other months when the parks close earlier, we have dinner in one of the Disney hotels, ( anyone can book to eat in any of them ) or in one of the restaurants in the Village, as Palm Trees did.

PPS. My eldest son had his 6th birthday in EuroDisney when it first opened. He has had most of his birthdays there, including 18th and 21st, and is now 24!
Your daughter will have a wonderful time.
