Taking a 5 month old to Thailand on Friday - packing essentials HELP!

Hi,

My DH has booked a last minute holiday to Thailand (Phuket) and we leave on Friday. I'm excited and terrified at the same time as this is the first time we will have flown (been away from home for more than a night) with our 5 month old DD.

We are going to a hotel we have visited before, so know what to expect facilities wise. However, as DD is our first child I haven't a clue on what to pack (hand and hold luggage). Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks!

nappies are really expensive so i allowed 5 a day just incase she got the runs, wet wipes, really tiny packets were over £3.00, i took 2 packets per week but it wasnt enough, would double it.
get at least 50% deet mosi spray, dd was bit to death. the chemists out there are great so can get all medicines but i took calpol and neurophen anyway.
are you bf or formula?
all her closed i had washed at a laundry outside the htel gates and was back next day so would just take minimum.
i also took her gro bag as we had ac on all night and she got a bit chilly.
dont count on getting your buggy back when you land in bangkok, they usually send it straight thru to phucket.
fot the journey i took 6 nappies, nappy sacks wet wipes and the cartons of ready made milk. a clean top for me and dh and a change of clothes for dd.

are you taking her in the pool/sea? if so get 2 or 3 swim nappies. they take ages to dry, also a couple of t shirts to swim in.

i took disposable bibs aswell, from boots. we were there a few weeks ago and there was quite a lot of rain, they hadnt had it so bad for about 6 years.

Thanks for your advice. Swim nappies and rain coat added to my ever increasing list. Thanks also for the heads up re: buggy, I'll take my sling in my hand luggage.

I just need to find time to get my legs waxed, pack for the three of us and head to Oxford Street for a panic shop.

I wouldn't worry about having your legs waxed, there are oodles of salons there who can do it for you.
I would take a rash top or an all in one swimming costume with sunprotection. OTOH, you will be able to buy one there, there's a large Central dept. store on the island.
I am so bloody jealours, I really love Phuket and it's freezing here (snow forecast) in Antwerp.

agree with leg waxing, get booked in as soon as you get there, one less job.
in the markets they sell lovely little kaftans for your dd, or mine just lived in bodysuits. you will have a lovely time im sure

Thanks again. All packed for DD, even got a light weight grobag on sale. Legs to be waxed as soon as we land!
