Egypt hol with 18 month old - what to do in evening?

Hi, Grateful for any hints/guidance here. DH and I are taking our baby on holiday to Sharm in Egypt in March for 2 weeks all inclusive. She'll be 18 months by then. She's our only child.

I'd love some guidance on what to do in the evenings. Here's the backstory: My DD is a great sleeper, loves her routine and sleeps through the night, even in travel cots in friends houses etc. Last year when she was 5 months we took her to Cyprus for 2 weeks. I kept her to UK time and put her to bed roughly the same time as her bedtime at home. However, it meant I was stressed in the evenings about getting her to bed 'on time' whilst my husband was more relaxed and wanted to try and see if we could get her to sleep in her pram and then put her in her cot when we get back to the room meaning we could stay out a little bit later in the evenings. I got my way and always made sure we were back and she was put to sleep awake in her cot to self-settle as normal.

This year I feel more relaxed and would like to try getting her to sleep in her buggy, going out for a bit in the evening, and then putting her down in her cot later. My question is do I get her ready for bed (i.e. her normal breast feed and put into sleepsuit) before she falls asleep in the buggy or wait til we get back to our room? Any ideas on what to do???

Many thanks

I would definitely try and get her to sleep in the pram, and then you can have a nice dinner without stressing and worrying.
We have always done it, was a bit worried it wasn't going to work this year as he has just turned 3, but still worked a treat.
All the fresh air and exercise knocks them out, just go for a big walk about bedtime, should be fine, fingers crossed!
We would take him out in normal clothes and then just change him before bed, he occasionally woke up for 5/10 minutes but soon went back off.
But i don't think at that age anyone would have a problem with a sleepsuit, if you think she would wake up and be unsettled

Hi redrollers, thanks for your help. Did you give your DS a milk feed (when he was little) when you got back to your room or before? Yes, fingers crossed all the fresh air and playing will zonk her out!

he was still having milk on the last holiday, only a couple of months ago!
Yeah, when he was little, would just go for a walk, lay back in the pram with his bottle of milk.
If it didn't work would get some more milk from the restaurants, or wherever!
And then more if he woke up when we got home.
smaller amounts maybe, but milk has pretty much always sent him to sleep

OK thanks for that. Sounds like it worked out well for you!

Take her out in the buggy, DS had a good routine as well and I was worried about taking him out in the evening until we had a bad experience with a babysitter, he slept like a dream in the buggy and I felt much more relaxed knowing he was safe with us

Thanks rookiemater. Am looking forward to trying it now
