Can you take any of your own food on board planes nowadays?

Always done it in the past but it's crap and expensive so was thinking about not bothering if we book for abroad this summer, haven't been abroad for a couple of years since DD2 was born.

4 hourish flight so is it an option with 9 & 3yr old?

Yes you can. We have.

Yes, you can take your own food - I always do as I do regular long flights with vegetarian DCs who turn their noses up at the inflight food, which always arrives at the wrong time anyway.

Just be careful about anything that might fall foul of the security restrictions for liquids or gels, eg yoghurt/fromage frais. But I have taken sandwiches, fruit, and all sorts of snacky things, and never had a problem.
