We have been 3 times and going again next year (just booked). We have been to Turkey (antalya) and to Portugal (Bahia I think).

We went out of school holidays as we have preschool children, went with extended family (GPs, sister etc) and was fabulous! We went to Turkey on a recommendation for 2 years, then to Portugal and going back to Turkey this coming year.

Alot depends on ages of kids and what you want from a holiday. In both places the food and drink was excellent, plenty of it and a good standard. Turkey had more to do (they have sailing and other watersports included and freely available all the time) I think, but further to travel.

I have no idea what it would be like in school holidays though in terms of busy-ness.

Where are you thinking of going?

Bit of a tangent - are Club Med holidays similar in terms of facilities. food, and amenities to Mark Warner?

Are they similarly priced (i.e. - quite expensive)?

We went to the one in Phuket. Twas brilliant. Plenty for DD to do and food and drink included.
I can't compare them to anything, we only booked the facilities as we were living in Bangkok and arranged the flights ourselves.

We loved Turkey - going to Palmiye. But beware, the kids clubs are apparently not great. We didn't use them, but met people who did while there. Because CM is French, the staff and kids are mostly French, so quite difficult for preschool kids who barely speak English!

We've been to a few and most recently La Palmyre.

The accomodation there was good, food was excellent (CM really excels at the food IMO) and generally it was pretty nice. We didn't use the kids club much because, although some of the staff spoke english many did not and DD found herself the only English speaking child there sometimes.

Rooms at La Palmyre were especially good because they had two sections and so effectively our children were in a different room to us.

All in all I think it is great value. It's not cheap but you can attempt to eat your bodyweight in moules so that makes up for it.
