I paid around £50 last year for travel to Europe for a family of 4. I got quotes from money saving expert .

try insureandgo Think they do annual - we got a very good deal on a single long stay trip.

where are you thinking of travelling to Yorkiegirl. Aren't there some tailored ones for further afield than say Ireland\British Isles.

Chink · 18/09/2005 22:18

lots of posts since I started to type that remark.

Our annual travel insurance is through my bank current account and I pay extra to upgrade to family worldwide of less than £50, with only £30 excess on claims. May not be the best paying interest wise, and don't know about if you go over drawn but we don't, so it is good value for us.

Here's one NOT to use...we used to buy an annual policy from WorldCover (part of GE group). It was fine until my husband had an accident on holiday in NZ requiring hospitalisation for a broken shoulderblade and collarbone. The 24 hour emergency helpline was frighteningly useless. If we had not been staying with my family and had access to a landline we would have been in majaor difficulties because it took three days and numerous phonecalls before they even accepted that our policy was one of theirs. If we'd been reliant on a mobile phone then we would have been in major difficulties. Things deteriorated from then on in and it was an extremely stressful time. Next time I take out a policy I will be phoning the emergency number first to see how long they take to answer. It will be a small indication of what they're like generally.
