.

DH and I came to Aussie in March and April 1994 and went all over country, Sydney, cairns, alice springs, Uluru, Perth.

Then DH and DS and I went to Melbourne in Jan 2002

We want to go back again BUT we want to go for extended time and don't really have enough weeks at Easter

So if we were to come for 6 weeks in July and August

What would weather be like?

I realise it is winter

We would want to go to Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, Alice springs, Uluru, and Perth

SO all over really

Are we MAD !!!!!!

I realise it will be worst weather in Melbourne and sydney than further north

But what is your opinion

Thanks

Hi, we arrived in Townsville, tropical north QLD at the end of July and were the only ones out on the beach and playing in the water play - but hey it was 26 degrees and coming from NE Scotland, that was definitely tropical to us! Loads of stuff going on - wouldn't have thought it was the end of winter given the number of events etc. Sure you won't be short of things to do. Perfect time if you're coming from GB and the whole motorhome thing would be a fab way to get round and do stuff (provided it was a sturdy one - not sure that I would do some of the distances in a VW camper van but I am quite a creature comfort person who needs to know that we won't be stranded to our survival instincts)

Thanks

The motorhome would deffo be a luxury one

Am glad that soooooo much will still be open etc.

not at all RTK, Rotto is delightful in the winter, if it goes tits up with the weather when you're here just pretend you've rented a cottage on teh Northumberland coast for the four hours of rain and drear which will be the worst case scenario and get the ludo board out

The only comment I would add (British but lived in Oz for a while with Australian dh) is be prepared for the dark evenings. By around 5/6 it will probably be dark which is unexpected after leaving the light summer evenings in the UK.

mymama · 24/09/2005 04:00

I think it would be great weather for you at that time. Have uk friends who have lived here a year and still find most of the year too hot for them.

eidsvold · 24/09/2005 10:09

today was a balmy 27 degrees
