EURODISNEY: need a bargain, help!

We went to France to a campsite and I had an accident so we couldn't go to Eurodisney as planned. As we had promised the kids we were going, we have to go back this year sometime. I have read some old threads and people mention 'I got a great bargain... but then don't say how or where!!! Does anyone know an inexpensive way of doing Eurodisney and are the Disneyhotels really worth the extra expense.

Please help if you can. Thanks

We save our tesco vouchers so were able to pay for a Cresta holiday to Eurod. using them (worth 4 x their value!! Well worth it!). We stayed in the newport Bay but I'd book a cheaper hotel as we were never in it except to sleep. It was great being onsite though and able to stroll ina nd out as we wanted to. Good luck bargain hunting!

We went from Ryanair from Prestwick to Beauvais. The first time we wnt we hired a car as i wasn't to sure about changing trains etc. The second time we were staying in Paris so easier to get the shuttle bus into Paris and metro to hotel.

We have flown in to GDG and there is a disney shuttle bus that goes straight to the disney hotels. It goes round the 3 main airports but not Beauvais.

JJF we have just come back from a DIY EuroDisney break. Stayed at Holiday Inn, which is closer than Davey Crockett Ranch, and hardly any further than some of the other "in the magic" hotels. We got the room for 86 Euros per night and there is a shuttle bus that runs all day and into the evening over to the parks. Cheapest Disney entry tickets are at Disney stores in the UK but ring before you go to get them as lots of stores seem to have sold out. We drove via the tunnel as it turned out the cheapest option for us. By my calculations we paid about 30% of the brochure price for the same break.

Hi JaninLondon, thanks for the tips. Was the hotel good. 86 euros was that for the room and how many of you are there? Did you book with hotel directly on the internet? Also, did you drive via tunnel or Eurostar or what?

If you could answer these please! Thanks. The shuttle bus was that an extra expense?

Hi JJF. I booked direct with Holiday Inn on their website. The 86 Euros was for a family room for three of us but they also do family rooms for four for the same price - with a little sectioned off bit with bunk beds in it and a circus curtain around - the kids have their own tv in there. The rooms were good. There are also kids suites. There is an indoor pool which was great, a good playground for smaller kids (sorry don't know your kids ages or how many), a pretty decent buffet breakfast (free if you buy the 3 day advance with breakfast room rate), parking is free and the pink bus that takes you to the park is also free. There are four hotels in a row using the bus shuttle service - you could check their rates for competition (from memory Kyriad, Myhotel Explorers). We went Eurotunnel and drove. Takes about 4.5 hours from Calais terminal. Anything else just ask!

janinlondon · 16/09/2005 12:07

Sorry - the other hotel is the Movenpick Dream Castle. Just realised I only gave you three!

jumpingjackflash · 16/09/2005 12:28

Thanks!! I have a feeling I might have some more questions tonight as I have to do the school run now. My children are aged 7, 10 and 5 so I fear thatI might need an extra room for them? Did you book with the Eurostar was it directly on the Internet? I am useless, I don't even know the difference between the Eurostar and the Eurotunnel I guess one is a train and one for the cars! Thanks a lot.

I think the max number in a room at Holiday Inn is four persons, so you are probably right. What about Pierre and Vacance apartments? They are further away, but maybe they take more people. We always book eurotunnel direct - either on the website or by phone if the web shows no availability (the phone people always seem to have some magical way of making availability). And yes, Eurotunnel is the one you drive your car onto.
