North Africa - safe at the moment?

I have posted this message on another thread which fizzled out, so hope you don't mind me re-posting.
Any reason not to go to Egypt in the 'current political climate' ie is there any anti-Brit feeling expressed? I am v tempted by beach hol with DD and DS, but just wondered if it was a bit risky. (also remembering attacks on tourists at Luxor not so long ago) Likewise Tunisia, possibly Djerba, but again, is it risky to go there at the moment?

Pasted from Foreign Office website:

Egypt

This advice has been reviewed and reissued with an amendment to the Political Situation section. The overall level of the advice has not changed.

SUMMARY

There is a high threat from terrorism in Egypt.

The Egyptian security services have tightened security throughout Egypt. Since 15 August, there have been three roadside explosions in northern Sinai, most recently on 25 August. These have damaged two police vehicles and one Multinational Force and Observers? vehicle, killing two people and injuring seven others.

On 23 July, three bombs exploded in Sharm al-Sheikh in the Sinai Peninsula. According to the Egyptian authorities 63 people were killed and 124 injured. 11 British nationals were killed. Further attacks in tourist areas cannot be ruled out.

In April 2005, there were three separate incidents in Cairo in which tourists were targeted. A total of seven people, including four terrorists and three tourists, were killed and 26 injured in these attacks.

In October 2004, three explosions in the Sinai Peninsula killed 34 and injured 159, including tourists.

Approximately 547,000 British nationals visited Egypt in 2004, mainly as tourists. Most visits are trouble-free.

Crime rate is low but you should safeguard valuables including passports and money.

There are likely to be political demonstrations and rallies in Egypt during 2005, which is an election year.

Egyptian society is conservative and women should dress modestly.

We strongly recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling.

Only just seen this post.

Can I ask where you were thinking of going in Egypt? Is it Sharm/Hurghada? Somewhere on the Red Sea?

haven't really identified a destination ChaCha, I was just dreaming about (mild) sunshine in Jan/Feb and don't want a long haul (nor anything too hot, we are all v fairskinned and don't really take well to the sun).
