What is the latest situation re baby milk/baby food on planes?

Hi - does anyone know what the up to date situation is re carrying cartons of ready made baby milk and jars of baby food on planes - are they still making people taste them (thereby making them useless for the trip as open for too long to use!)? I can take powder and water if I really need to but will be so much easier if we can just use the ready made jars and cartons.

Can you buy these things after security?

Anyone know if the rules are the same for returning too? (from Barbados)

Thanks

Which airport are you flying from? I went out of Gatwick (North Terminal) fairly recently and was told that I needed to open/taste at least 50% of the cartons I had brought with me. I had four cartons and they told me to open two (despite the fact I told them that if I did this it would render at least one of them useless - I argued the toss for a little while but they said it was Department of Transport regulations).

You can, however, buy the cartons airside from Boots (dependent on availability - but they do have plenty, especially if you are not worried about brand).

Coming back (from Greece) they didn't make me open/taste a single carton...

Enjoy your holiday

I've just flown out to Nimes, France from Luton and they made me taste the jar but not the Ella's Kitchen pouch. I also took some baby biscuits etc too which didn't need tasting and would survive the packet being opened.

TBH I only took enough in hand luggage to survive the flight and a jar/pouch opened at customs isn't going to go off straight away. I'd take the bear minimum with you and buy more airside if you want. DD is 14mo and will eat bits of our food so that gives you more options airside or on the plane.

I'd also recommend putting all your baby food in a ziplock plastic bag (or similar) and take it out of your hand luggage when it's scanned. I was pulled over as my backpack was flagged due to the baby food Blush

Sorry for the late return to the thread - thank you for the advice. Will buy some the other side and have powder just in case with me.
