It depends where exactly you are but here's a few places that we visit, we're in the west midlands:

Warwick castle, Goodrich castle or other castles

Dudley or Bristol zoo

Sealife centre birmingham

SS Great Britain in Bristol

farm (there's quite a few around)

Clearwell caves also just down the road is Puzzlewood and Perrygrove Railway & Treetop Adventure they're all in the forest of dean

Coventry transport museum (free entry)

Drayton Manor with thomas land

Maybe a trip to Weston to see the new pier

White Post Farm near Mansfield is great.

Freeish days out at Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park, Rufford Abbey in the area.

Markeaton park in derby. Best park you'll ever go to. Just have to pay for parking, otherwise free.

Wicksteed Park is free.
Woodside falconry park is awesome apparently- not too pricey and they let the lemurs out into the playground at lunchtime!

Another vote for Thomasland. I think its £12 for an adult and pre-schooler (together not each) during the week in Staffordshire term-time. You can also use your Tesco clubcard points.

Don't know what part of the Midlands you are in but you could try Trentham Gardens. There's a great playground and lots of space.

Ineedsomesleep · 17/10/2010 11:37

Have you decided on anywhere yet Lovebeing?

LoveBeingAMardyBum · 17/10/2010 16:59

Dh is very keen on twin lakes, will write a review when we have been Grin

West Midlands Safari Park - took DD1 when she was 2 and a Half and she found it absolutely magical.
