Advice please - city break with 4 month old, sling/pram?

We've booked a trip to Prague next month when DS will be 4 months old. We're flying with wizz air. the plan is to use the sling most of the time but to take our pram base with the car seat attachment. this will mean we have the car seat for the taxi transfer, and can take ds out in it if he gets a bit heavy in the sling, and/or in the hope he will sleep in it in restaurants.

question is - wizz air say you can take a pushchair, but will they mind our travel system? the base folds up but then there are 3 separate bits - the base, the car seat and an adaptor. i would label all 3 separately.

will we regret taking it? it might be a hassle. i'm sure i can ask the apartment owner who is arranging the transfer if he can arrange for there to be a baby seat in the car. there is no lift in the accommodation. prague is apparently hilly with many cobbled streets so pram may not be ideal. we won't be able to take it on trams etc.

but what if there is no car seat in the taxi? what if we get ahy backs from carting him around? will we regret never being able to put him down? it just feels a bit scary to be away for four days with no wheels!

any thoughts or advice welcome.

At 4 months old I'd say just go with the sling.

However if you do want to take wheels then check with the airline about non-umbrella type pushchairs (though the amount of bugs you see travelling these days I should think it'll be fine). As for the seperate adaptors - can you not leave these attached to the seat, or put them in hand luggage (i'd worry that they'd go missing). The only reason I'd be tempted to take wheels is the taxi ride part, but you may be able to get round that if the owner can arrange it for you.

Finally in many big cities there are baby equipment hire places, so you could possibly hire a buggy. Or even ask the owner if there is one you could hire/borrow through them.

I've been to Prague (without kids) and it is cobbly, but no worse than other places. Also the main shopping area would be fine with a buggy. The hilly bit around the park and palaces might be more challenging, but there are paths, though I'd be tempted to use a sling for venturing there anyway.

Happy holiday!

Most airlines also let you take a car seat free of charge - check on their website.

We were fine with 2-piece (Bugaboo Cameleon) when DD was little but actually checked it in (used buggy bag) and just used the sling at the airport.

Definitely useful to have the pram while away so she could sleep, sit in it while we had lunch etc, worked v well.

We did as tiokiko described for a city break when DD was 4 months, sling at the airport (there are now a lot of Japanese tourists with photos of DD - they went mad for her in the airport) and checked in the bugaboo. The pram was very handy when we were in cafes, going for some longer walks and a nice long trip on a tram where she fell asleep and I saw th sights out of the window
