Lapland visit and a baby

I want to visit Lapland to see Santa, reindeer rides, snow mobile for DH etc probably for 3 or 4 days. I have been saving for this but thought that I would go when oldest DS was about 7 and youngest would then be 3, on the basis that oldest would still find it magical and the youngest would be able to join in to some extent. I always imagined my parents coming with us, and this was something they really want to do.

Anyhow, my mum is now ill and I think if I wait it will be too late. How stupid would it be to go with a 12 month old, 3.5 year old and 5 year old next winter? My main worry is the baby will get too cold and I won't be able to join in as I will be holding an upset baby all the time! Should I forget bringing it forward? If not, what companies does anyone recommend (or thinks I should avoid?)

We were very lucky to win a trip to Lapland last year and went the weekend before Xmas.

DD1 was 5.3 and DD2 was 2.11 and DD1 loved it enjoyed every single thing we did and never complained she was cold once but tbh DD2 got very cold very quickly (she had thermal underwear leggings/long sleeve top, long sleeved top, tracksuit top and bottoms and snowsuit (with thermal socks and hat/ski gloveds and scarf) o, we had to take her into the warming room (where we went log cabins with hot drinks/fires) every hour to warm her back up otherwise she would just cry from being cold.

We took DD to Lapland for a week when she was 17 months old. She was fine - plenty of layers with ski dungarees and jacket on top. Admittedly we didn't do any excursions or Santa-type stuff when we were there but we were out in the cold weather quite a bit.

My to loved it at 6 &9 but the little ones on the trip did struggle.
I'm not sure if it was the cold but whenever they fell over they couldn't get up.
They all had so many layers on as soon as they fell they couldn't move or bend their arms & legs, so were stuck, face down in the snow.
Poor little things, very funny to watch but i'm guessing not too pleasant for them.

The weather varies wildly so it depends. Have been there when temperature was hovering around zero and all was fine. Another time it was -20 and all the younger kids found it difficult to keep warm even with all the layers they give you and any activities outside that took more than half an hour were not really enjoyed, the skidoo towing a sleigh rides consisted of hiding under blankets hugging them as close as possible to try and keep them warm.

It would be a gamble.

Thankyou. I've decided I'm going to wait and try and do something else next year that Mum will enjoy. Just need to talk DH round to bringing mum and dad on holiday now.....
