The marco pierre white resturant is nice but its not right in the centre. Couple of other nice ones is upstairs at the grill, number fifteen which is at the racecourse.

Grosvenor is pricey but oh so good! I was lucky enough to go for a 30th birthday treat. Think there are 2 versions, 1 with glass of champagne and 1 without which is significantly cheaper. (But the champagne is rather good too Wink).

Thanks - I have heard that the Red House is better than The Grosvenor but means driving out of town. Any other ideas gratefully recieved Smile

chester jammed pack with lovely little coffee houses - go up stairs above grosvenor follow little rambles round to the left - nice little coffee houses - nice cakes etc depends what you want! just wander and find - chester is small and located all round centre so no probs finding anything!

The Coach House on the Town Hall Square does a lovely afternnon tea or cream tea served on vintage style 3 tier plates and you can add Champagne if you want to.

I took a friend recently and we couldn't believe what good value it was.

it was £9.99 by the way

Thanks all. We went to the Grosvenor in the end and it was LUSH !
Will check out The Coach House next time though as looks far more reasonable price wise

I had afternoon tea at Oddfellows, it was lovely and such a typically English thing to do - have a look at the website www.oddfellows.biz you can even sit in the Tea Rooms which is upside down and very quirky! It was only £10.95 for the 2 of us, loved it :)
