Have been once before but we didnt hire a car last time so need any tips re the car hire and driving generally, also I seem to recall someone on here a while back saying you must have photo id to get into disco cove is that right? Also any other tips re FL in October and at Halloween much appreciated.

Have you already hired a car? If not we used this company in July this year. Here we had no problems at all, car was ready and waiting for us, a lovely big air conditioned 15 seater.

I didn't do the driving, but it seemed straightforward enough, everything is well sign posted etc.

Didn't go to discovery cove, but all parks say they require photo id, as far as I recall, and we were only ever asked once (out of 13 days at parks) it was in universal studios, but we took passports with us each day just in case we were asked.

Have you completed the ESTA (electronic travel authorisation) online form for all your party?. This is now mandatory for entry into the USA.

Photo id for adults is required for entry into Discovery Cove. Booking a day there usually has to be done about a month or two before travel.

Try to arrive at the parks before opening or as soon as they open. If you have a photocard driving licence carry that around for ID purposes instead of your passport.

Some parks like Universal lay on additional entertainment for Halloween but there is usually a strictly applied age limit. You would need to look at the parks' various websites beforehand.

From Discovery Cove's website:-

"Since Discovery Cove limits attendance to approximately 1,000 guests per day, it is highly recommended you make a reservation for your visit. Also, if you are planning on visiting during the summer or near a holiday, you should book your reservation at least two months prior to your intended visit to ensure availability as these timeframes tend to book early. Once you have made a reservation, you simply check in on the date of your visit. All you need is your name, confirmation number, and a photo ID for those guests over the age of 18".

Do inform the credit card company of your travel plans in advance otherwise your credit card could have a "stop" marker placed on it.

The Halloween Horror nights at Universal are NOT recommended at all for children under the age of 13.

we will be there for Halloween too. Went a few years ago and went to Seaworld on halloween which was really good. Had heard Universal a bit scary and don't want to have to pay extra to go to WDW for halloween as its expensive enough as it is!

Discovery cove is fab, we did it years ago but not doing it this time as DC3 and 4 too young to really enjoy it

ooohh, you MUST post as soon as you've been there! Am still debating whether to buy the orlando flexticket so we can go to Universal as think DC1 and 2 would love that as opposed to just buying the Disney tickets.
Do tell all, I'm going 2 weeks Sunday so will require an update please Grin
