do your children become adult after 12 years of age when booking at a DP hotel? What might happen if I book my dd (14) as a child and she is clearly not -12 when we arrive?

Not really sure why you would think that is a good idea.

They check your passports when you arrive at hotel

Mickey will frogmarch you right outta there.

I thought I remembered having to show our passports. I considered booking my children as children because they are children and it costs so much more for adults. I will be booking the 14 yo as an adult though.

It depends on what offers are on at the time. Children under the age of 3 always stay and play free. Often there is the same offer for children under age 7. Sometimes they also do kids under 12 stay and play free on certain dates. Otherwise, children over the age of 11 are classed as adult.
When you book, you have to give the birthdates of children, and they may ask to see their passports on arrival.
In WDW Florida, child price is only up to 9yrs.

Pointydog, your comment made me laugh!
I'm sure Mickey would not actually frogmarch anyone, but it would be embarassing having to explain why you lied at check in, in front of other people.

Remember that the 3rd and 4th adults in a room are at a cheaper price.

kiwibella · 30/09/2010 19:32

thanks figgygirl... I have been reading your forum at trip advisor and found it incredibly useful. We are planning on travelling at Christmas time and not staying immediately in a Disney property - instead on the periphery. I don't see any discount for extra adults on the hotel website just a room rate.

In the brochure it gives a cheaper price for 3rd and 4th adult sharing a room. For example, the 1st and 2nd adult in the Santa Fe Hotel for 2 days 1 nt in the cheapest period, is £ 166 each ( hotel, breakfast, park tickets included). Child aged 7-11 is £ 90 ( if no special offers are on). Additional adult in all periods is £ 108.
Last December I stayed at the Sequoia Lodge with my two adult sons, and DS2's girlfriend. Two were adult price, 2 were the cheaper price, so I divided it between us equally.
Which hotel are you considering?
Glad you found the MLV forum - it's not really mine, I'm just one of the posters and TA asked me to be a Destination Expert for it.We have a few regular posters who also know DLP very well, and other ones who pop in from time to time.
Personally, I always book over the phone rather than online. The prices are the same, but the Disney operator can advise you, give you the prices, and answer any questions. Not all availability always shows online either.
