We've booked a week in Portugal at the Balaia Plaza in Balaia on the Algarve at the end of September. Anyone got any info on what to take?? Can jars of babyfood be bought in case she won't eat anything else or should we take our own??

Any help?

We went to carvoerio in May when ds was 13 months and you can get everything you need out there. I would take a few basics for the first few days whilst you find a big supermarket and then you will be fine. Our ds was eating things like pasta then anyway so was pretty adaptable but I do remember seeing lots of jars etc in the supermarket (although not always too clear from the pictures on them what is in them so may be worth taking a basic phrase book?!?).
Hope you have a fab time!

Before we went I phoned the Aptamil helpline and their guidelines was to use bottled water but to look for water with less than 20mg/litre of sodium (I think Evian has about 5). HTH

i just got back last night from portugal with two small children. the supermarkets have alot of baby jars and packet dried cereals. however i have never come across any organic baby food which is a pain. they also do not have organic milk and fresh milk is at times hard to come across unless its at a large supermarket. i would recommend taking a shade-a-babe for the pram and a sunblind for the car as the sun can be quite strong even in september. lots of cool, loose cotton clothing and a muslin square to use as a sheet for the baby when the weather is very hot. huggies are widely available in portugal, but not reusable accesories, ie. nappy soak or liners. the fruit there is lovely and they sell various types of yogurts too which my daughter loved. they also sell little pasta for babies which is nice to even bring back to the uk. portuguese people love children and you should have a fab time. of course my whole family is portuguese so i am slightly biased ;-)
