Where to eat out in london

I know this is a daft question cos there are restaurants everywhere but dh are in London for 2 days and last night are in Steak & co in Leicester square which was very tasty but £££££. I knew we would pay through the nose there but coming out of concert late and just needed food.

Where do Londoners go, that aren't tourist traps for money? Staying in paddington/bayswater area, doing Kensington stuff this afternoon and maybe walk along Thames from Westminster to tower bridge (doting about basically).

Thank you :)

If you are walking along the S Bank the EAT cafe under the Royal Festival Hall is a reasonable cafe chain, and you can fill up cheaply on their hot soup. Or when you get to London Bridge, wander through borough market and find an interesting stall.

The Sofra chain are very reasonably priced, there is one in Covent Garden.

In the W End and Covent Garden, look out for 'pre theatre supper' deals, you have to at early, but it can be good value.

Canteen at th back of the RFH is good and not too expensive.

But it is hard to find anywhere properley cheap. Sad

Not Necessarily looking for cheap just not overpriced for what you get. IYKWIM

Horniman at Hay's Galleria was OK, food reasonably priced and decent but it's still a pub.

It's right on the south bank overlooking HMS Belfast and down towards Tower Bridge. Gets very busy though - it's in a touristy location but when we were there we saw lots of after-work Londoners meeting up as well.

They have table service in an upstairs gallery room which is worth paying a bit extra for as the service can be slow in the bar area.

have a nice time!

Thanks for tips! I love London but it can be so overwhelming too, too much choice :-)

Probably a bit late now but we like the Cafe in the Crypt at St Martin's in the Field, Trafalgar Sq.

Does real pudding and custard and is v reasonably priced.

We use top table to book as we can check out costs before we go. Also we love the Belgo chain, big favourite Belgo central.
