We will be away for a few days staying just outside Bristol and are looking for ideas of things to do.

TIA

Depends whereabouts you're staying, but there's loads in the centre: @Bristol is a hands-on science museum; there is an aquarium next to it; SS Great Britain is really interesting. Any of those could be combined with a trip on the water "taxis" which go all around the docks. Up in the Clifton area is Bristol zoo and the Camera Obscura plus the suspension bridge. There is also the city museum. Also shopping etc in Clifton village.

Ashton Court is great for letting off steam, then there's Leigh woods across the road. If you have bikes there is a cycle path there which follows the river out to Portishead, or there's one which goes from Bristol to Bath.

Further afield there is Westonbirt arboretum, Weston super mare, wookey hole caves, Bath.

Hope there's something there for you.

Wow, thanks for that!

We are staying near Weston-Super-Mare, so we might give the caves a go, as well as going into Bristol.

Hi there. This half term there is a production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Bristol Hippodrome which is well worth a look. There's matinees on the Wed and Sat if you don't fancy spending the evening in the centre.

Drive to Suspension Bridge, park Leigh Woods side of the bridge, walk across bridge, check out views, visit Camera Obscura, there is a small park nearby, kids love sliding down the rocks there and exploring the trails in the undergrowth.

Afterwards walk into Clifton Village, have brunch/lunch in the Primrose Cafe, afterwards mosy through the Clifton Arcade shops and the kids can check out the sweet shop. Have a drink in the White Lion pub in the Avon Gorge Hotel but sit on the terrace under the suspension bridge.

There are some lovely walks round there too (Paradise Bottom walk by Leigh Court or Abbots Pool walk in Abbots Leigh).

Clevedon is also a worth a visit, there is a good park there for kids, you can walk along the to the Victorian Pier (there is a little tea room on the end or you can get a coffee at 5 The Beach).

If you are in Weston, there is a nice near Uphill (by the hospital): www.uphillvillage.org.uk/visitorinfo.htm

Tyntesfield (National Trust property) is worth a visit too and Cheddar Gorge and Caves and the West Somerset Railway too.

Have fun!
