I've not been to CP but I've just come back from Bluestone in Pembrokeshire. It was fabulous.

triplets · 10/09/2010 14:30

Do you think 3x12yr olds would like it there, do they have accom with hot tubs?

woodland lodge's are great value

oyu · 10/09/2010 16:51

I don't think any of the lodges have hot tubs. I suspect that your 12 year olds would love it; the Blue Lagoon has flumes galore, there is a wii/playstation room in the Adventure Centre and an activity called the Steep Ravine which looked amazing. It is a series of zip wires and an assault course through the trees. My 4 year old was gagging to have a go!

They do archery, clay pigeon shooting and all that kind of thing, plus there is a spa with a vitality pool if the hot tub is a must.

We really enjoyed it.

Thanks oyu, what accom did you have? Is it near a town, easy to walk to places?

we love CP at elveden and so do our girls ad friends. We normally get accomedation with sauna but even the "basic" are good. If you have the money you can get ones with pool table and games room which Im sure your boys would love.

My ILs live near bluestone and its very much out in the sticks and nothing within a walking distance. But there is a bih theme park fairly close :)
Hope you DH is doing well triplets.

Hi Lisa, thank you........we are hopefully coming out of the dark and into the light! He had his final trial chemo last Weds, the end of a long 6 months. Next Weds we go up to Kings to discuss the surgery which will be done in Oct, 3 ops in 1! That why we need a break, we have only snatched 3/4 nights away this year. Poor kids have has a really rough time. Just trying to find something for everyone, and affordable!

It isn't far from Tenby, maybe 10 miles or so.

There are 3 restaurants and a cafe on site, and there is a takeout service. They very much encourage people to explore Pembrokeshire.

Many best wishes to your husband.

I have been to elvedene and the one near longleat. Elveden comes out best for us as its close to London. We have enjoyed all our holidays there, in all of there differant accomodation! Just go with the budget you can afford. Last year we stayed in a 4 bed woodland lodge and it was fab! I vow after many years of eating in their overpriced restaurants and what I consider to be bad service, to self cater, which is perfect for us. We take more luxury items of food and enjoy that much more than the restaurants. If you can manage to get accomodation with a dishwasher that really helps and if you can push the boat out and have a daily maid come in, then even better Grin. That to me outways the eating in restaurant thing. Whatever you decide to do/ go for, enjoy yourselves. and one word of advice ,BOOK ANY ACTIVITES NOW ON LINE OR WHEN YOU GET THERE!.

melly676 · 13/09/2010 09:15

Bluestone is well worth a try. The accommodation is better than CP, the location is beautiful and the spa is fantastic. Food in the restaurants generally v good too. Apart from the theme park just down the road, you do have to drive to visit the beaches, etc. But you have to do that at CP too.

Thanks everyone, if my DH doesnt feel alot better than he is otday we wont be going anywhere, the last chemo has really knocked him off of his feet. If he is well enough to get to London on Weds we will meet with the team to discuss the surgery, then well know roughly what dates we can try to get away for. We all need to try and relax, its hell. Will consider Bluestones, just really need a private hot tub as DH has an ileostomy bag, so he wouldnt use a shared one or go to a pool. We are both so very tired, just want to relax as much as possible.

triplets · 15/09/2010 23:35

Hi Lisa..............went up to Kings today, DH goes in on Nov 1st for liver resection and ileostomy reversal at the same time. After 48 hours if he is making a good recovery they will keep him and do RFA on his lung!Such good news after a 3 yr battle, not curable but treatable. He has been very ill for the last 3 days with problems with the ileostomy, feel so sorry for him.Now we can safely find a holiday, if there is anything left and we can afford it!!

OP posts:
lisad123isgoingcrazy · 16/09/2010 08:20

I hate the treatable but not cureable ones, such a pita as you know you will always be dealing with it :( Same here, only cure is bone marrow transplant but huge risks for DH as he will need starnger match and has 2 weird blood disorders Confused
Glad you had some good news and hope op goes well. DH is heading up to Hammersmith soon, maybe if there not far we could do coffee and a wine up (as in moan not the bottle type)
We are heading to CP the week before christmas with mum and dad as backup as long as all is well, which didnt cost too much. Have you had a macmillian grant yet? If not apply and then you dont need to worry about what you can afford but enjoy the break instead Grin

triplets · 16/09/2010 08:53

Hi Mac grant.......tell me more, no one has mentioned it, could certainly do with some help! Hope your husband does find a match, so worrying for you. We had our ivf for the trio at the Hammersmith, made many a 4am start to get to the unit from Kent with a full bladder!

OP posts:
lisad123isgoingcrazy · 16/09/2010 11:33
