I'm taking my 3 girls, aged 8, 6 and 16 months. Any general advice or comments?

Depends what you are looking for in a holiday? I personally find Cala Dor a bit more touristy than other bits of mallorca but there are nice parts around if you get out and about. The beach there is nice.

been there 9 years ago so advice out of date..... beaches are OK but a bit piddling (but you might see that as advantage from safety point of view!). lots of nice restaurants around the marina, but also plenty of bars/shops not near water. you can get a bus that takes a bit over an hour if you fancy a trip to Palma, it has a gorge old town and Gaudi designed cathedral. basically nice enough place, I would go back, but nothing earthshattering.

Went there in May (Cala egos, just next door). Very family friendly but restaurants very touristy, we found Portopetro (5 min drive) a bit nicer.

Thanks for replies. We are only going for a week. I guess I was wondering how accessible it is for young children (ie - what the milk is like etc). I know from experience never to buy nappies in Spain again as I remember paying £10 for a pack once!

When you say touristy, do you mean 'clubby'?

No - At least not in the Cala Egos bit, in Cala D'or maybe a few late night bars. I just mean the restaurants are pizza, pasta, hamburgers, indian, thai etc rather than tapas and paella!

Milk - tasted fine to me (cows, didnt buy formula). Yes nappies v expensive! Pleny of swings/slides. The tourist 'train' is expensive and uncomfortable.

DS (18 months) loved watching the fish in the marinas.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I think we will be eating mostly in the hotel anyway. Thanks for your advice.

not clubby, more a family than a nightlife resort. went there before child so don't know how available baby stuff is, I remember there being a branch or two of Spar, imagine that would do basic baby stuff.

Just came back from Cala D'Or and we all loved it. The beaches are all small coves with lots of fish, and lovely sand. The town centre is very nice for yound families - very few nightclubs and bars - lots of choice of restaurants. Marina has some very good restaurants, and not much more expensive than town centre. A Spar on most street corners which was not expensive eg. 20 cents for small bottle of water. Probably sell nappies ets, and there is a big Etoski supermarket on edge of town. Very good and modern pharmacy on main street.

Have a great time.

We also went there this year and loved it. My top tip would be to see if the hotel will fill up your bottles with milk if you can. We bought milk in the Spar, but the milk that the hotel bought seemed to be much more like the milk here and DD would only drink that.

Think the town centre is very good for families and beaches/coves are lovely
