Good car seat protectors - or just use towel?

Hiya, doing first long car journey since potty trained our DS, 6 hours to Wales. Am reading really mixed reviews of all the car seat protectors on various websites. Does anyone know of a good one, or is it just not worth the expense? Everyone seems to say they leak so I'm wondering whether to bother!

we always put ours in pull ups for long journeys when they were first potty trained

we have one of the wee plastic backed pads that you can buy in places like MOthercare. Can't remember the name of it, but think it was about a tenner. Didn't actually realise there was much other choice! We've only ever had a couple of accidents on it (2 children later) but it's always done the trick. I actually think a more important investment is probably a travel potty. (potette is the one we have) We regularly do long journeys - 1 family is 6 hours away, the other is a 13 hour drive - and the potette has been fantastic for stopping by the side of the road.

towel, frequent stops and a potty in case

Yep, I've got a potette but DS refuses to sit on it due to a phobia of the crinkly disposable wrappers! So we're stuck with the prospect of perching in the boot on our enormous throne-like thing we inherited from friends! Right, will just invest in a couple of the waterproof thingies and hope for the best. cheers everyone!

Try the Pampers Bed Mats under the car seat, better than a towel as keeps the moisture in......that is if you put it the correct side up!!Blush
