Beamish

We went on Saturday and it is a fantastic day out. Well worth the journey and the cost.

3yo DD loved the whole thing - ride on the tram, going in the drift mine, singing in the church, baking in the cottages, going to school(!), the sweet shop, the fairground, ...everything really. LOL!

We took a picnic as the weather was fine and there were loads of places to sit and eat. And you can go back and forth to the car so no carrying heavy backs.

And it is really a full day out. We gott there for 10am and didn't leave until 5pm, when it closed and we could have spent longer there easily.

If you're in the area, consider this!

Hula, you say you could easily go back and forth to the car ... my (childhood) memory is that it's huge - is that not the case?

We are planning to go at half term if the weather is OK.

Thanks for posting this Hula - was thinking of going as I've heard it's good. Glad to know it would be entertaining for a 4 yr old.

Presumably there's baby changing places too ?

PS - cheers for the Magna & MNPFT vouchers.

roisin - it is big, but the tram makes it quicker. We sent DH and my dad, and they walked from the Home Farm to the entry and back. Didn't take them very long at all really. It is a max 20 minute walk (slowish pace) form entrance to furthest point away.

magscat - yes, plenty of toilets and baby change.

DD loved seeing the 1913 toilets in the out houses in the yards of the cottages. Wasn't so keen to try them out though
